Upgrading from cloth seats

Looking at yet another E85 to tinker with.
It is an 04-plate and has cloth seats, no heating.
Does anyone know whether the loom is in place on these earlier models, to fit even standard leather heated seats?
I realise I would need the switch unit changed too, but that could be complicated if the loom doesn't already contain the necessary wires etc?

From what i remember the loom is in place in most early models up to 05
I suspected that tbh. Seems to be a load of cars on the market right now with cloth seats. In a lot of cases the rest of the car is well worth the asking price, so if I could swap them out easily I'd not be put off.

October 2004 build sticks in my head as the change point where looms were omitted

Just a thought but if you have a root around under the seats or behind the switch panel hopefully you'll find the connectors.

It's a car I was looking at buying. Can hardly turn up and pull the switches out.
Basically, if I was 100% certain it was an easy swap I'd buy it, but not if there's any doubt.

Fair enough, digging around for wires may not go down too well!

I think a build date of October 2004 & earlier had the heating looms present, if that helps.

Mine was registered at the end of January 2004 Martin and has the the necessary connections. Stuart has just fitted heated seats.

If you are planning on buying a pair of heated seats and the car has the looms in it then its only a matter of adding a replacement switch unit with the heated seat switches, its a matter of finding the seats that go with your door cards. My car had been retrimmed in its life with black with cream centres with matching door cards gear stick and handbrake gaiters, the seats were manual but not heated. I decided that I would fit heated mats using a ebay sourced kit that came with the wiring rather than use the unused wiring looms that should have been in the car being a 2003 2.5. Bit of a pain stripping the covers with all of the hog rings inside but managed it ok. Fitted the supplied loom and switches mounted either side of the plastic gear stick surround above the hazard switch. All nice and toasty now.

Cheers [ref]colb[/ref].
Lots of options it seems. Not sure what to do now.
There's this car with loads of nice bits and a decent colour, but shite cloth, unheated seats.
Bit of a gamble for me to take it on if it becomes a faff to sort the seats.
Oh and the missus is already enquiring about how many zeds one man can possibly need on the drive.
Still undecided but at least now I'm armed with all the info.

I suppose with cloth seats there’s less need for heating as they’re not as cold as leather? :?
