Upgrading brakes / brake pads 23i

Hi again, please don't say I should just buy a new car :rofl:

I really find the brakes pretty bad on my 23i, I know BMW's usually lack unless it's the M or high powered engine models but these actually don't give me any confidence whatsoever

Can anyone recommend me an upgrade, or suitable sizes for an upgrade or some brake pads that may increase my confidence?

Hi Walkie, I've recently part ex my 23i which I had for nearly 3yrs and I never found the brakes wanting at all, although I'm not a mega fast driver, sounds to me like it needs a brake overhaul, perhaps new pads !!! unless of course your tracking the car then that would be a different story altogether.
 
Have a 23sdrive and I dont hang about - never thought the brakes were bad - good balance and excellent feel and bit - get em checked for right pads an all okay with the system....
 
Ah this is interesting, thanks. So 3 against one makes me feel the pads might be a little thin?

I used to have EBC green stuff, there were great but only when warmed up - I wonder what good alrounders are now?

I was going for a spirited drive yesterday in that glorious weather and couldn't help but chuckle at the irony of this sign

I had some oem quality brembo discs and pads fitted last year. I will be getting the fluid changed this service time, but they seem perfectly alright to me.

I use to have some grooved and drilled on the ol' VRS and I don't think that pulled up any quicker, and was noisy when braking.

It wasn't a Furby vRS was it?! Here's my ol' girl rocking the Octavia vRS brake upgrade (312mm iirc) with EBC turbo groove discs

Yeah they make a whine as you brake.

Funnily enough I've got another tab open as I am doing some searches for minor upgrades and I am looking at a thread created by you for upgrading the lights lol. Any recommendations? There's two on ebay 40w or 80w. Any pics of your car would be good too :thumbsup:
 
It was the mk1 Octavia. I loved it. Especially with the extra roll bar and strut braces. Handled very well indeed.

As for the bulbs, I just got the 40w on eBay. Have been in almost a year and no issues with them. They're not as bright as the new models original led angel eyes. However I think I paid £30 or so, so not bad either. I think some go for lux bulbs or similar and they're supposed to be brighter, but a lot of money too.
