Upgraded FMIC Wagner or similar for 35i

does anyone know why the Wagner one is so much more expensive? is it actually better quality or would I just be paying for the name?

I'm just wondering if it's worth paying the extra for the Wagner one to avoid any big engine bills in the future.

I wouldn't bother with DCIs. They have been shown to make absolutely no difference in performance and they also make your engine bay look crap.

I went with one of those FMICs from Aliexpress and had difficulty with fitting the pipework into the new intercooler. It was an incredibly tight fit, even after removing the charge pipe from the car. It also doesn't perform that well. It's a big upgrade from the stock one but not on par with the alternatives.

If doing the same thing again I could go with a VRSF 5" HD intercooler. https://www.n54tuning.com/vrsf-street-intercooler-fmic-upgrade-kit-07-12-135i/335i/535i/x1/z4-n54-n55-e82/e84/e89/e60/e90/e92.html#

I purchased my downpipes from VRSF and they fit perfectly and came with all the accessories needed for fitment.
Unfortunately mine came with DCI's, so I'm looking at the AFE N54 ones that look a bit better and sit where the factory one does. I'd like to fit the factory box/filter but doubt I could find one, there's not many wrecking here.
Thanks for the VRSF link - I'd be looking at this as well, as it will make more positive difference than the DCI's ever will.

New FMIC now fitted. Sure it is a squeeze to get it in but other than that it went in ok. Pipework lines up exactly the same as the old one.
Very happy with the FMIC at this stage, not tested, or remapped yet but in terms of actual fitment there have been no problems at all.
Trickiest part was fitting the charge pipe, there's not a lot of room even with all the intake stuff out of the way.
Any thoughts/suggestions on what maps to use? I am thinking MHD as Miyli has on his amazing looking 35i...

Which FMIC did you buy from AliExpress and also where did you get your charge pipe from?

Here's the links I used:-

The FMIC was posted from the UK and took about 4 days to arrive.
The chargepipe came from China, they took an offer of £120 and I had to pay£34 customs charge, it took about 3 weeks to arrive.

Both items were the best price I could find and I am happy with the products. Build quality in terms of welding and size/shape on both are excellent, I am happy to recommend them.
