Upgraded FMIC Wagner or similar for 35i

Looking for a bigger FMIC for the 35i.
Does anyone have one for sale?
Or please let me know your experience of the upgraded FMIC you fitted as that may persuade me to fit similar.

Thanks
stijohnny

I’ve been looking into mods for the 35i and most places suggest it doesn’t need an FMIC unless you track it.

What’s other mods are you going for? As i’d be interested to understand what else can be done after a simple stage 1 remap.

I have de-cat downpipes fitted (I posted MOT results for these too), with K&N filter and a rolling road re-map got it to 385BHP and 450lb of torque.
This weekend I am fitting BMS DCI intakes and an aluminium charge pipe.
I'll do them before any FMIC upgrade, but that is interesting you say it may not be necessary to upgrade the FMIC!
Next plan is MHD stage 2+ map depending on how it feels with the DCI.
I also fitted Eibach springs which lower the front 25mm and 10mm at the back - these are a great upgrade. The car actually feels more comfortable generally but push it through a corner and it stays more level and solid feeling than OEMs. Toyed with the idea of coilovers but I am not tracking the car so dont need that level of stiffness.
What do you have in mind for yours?

I take back what i said about not needing an FMIC. I'm planning on using this company to remap my 35i and they suggest adding an FMIC for stage 1+.

I fitted a stepped one to my 35i got it from Ali Express for £200 delivered and it was spot on fitted straight up in place of the oem no drilling or cutting req, it was exactly the same as the ones on sites over here for £600.
It certainly felt different straight away but never got around to a before and after test and then my 35i was rudely taken from me 😢

Thanks for this advice £200 is a lot different than the ones on ML Performance - I'm going for that one too.
Sorry to hear your sad news though - I take it thats what the salvage thing refers to - gutted !

Yes it went for salvage as it was classed as Cat S and the quote to repair was ridiculous. Although it actually wasn’t that bad, it’s back on the road now fully repaired.
There is a thread on here somewhere about the accident.

The one from Ali Express was delivered to my door within 7 days of placing the order fully tracked and the packaging was extremely good, good quality product too.
I’ll try and find some pics of it.

Thanks Stu for the pics - my order is going in this weekend!!!

OP - there seems to be enought interest in this thread that you could start a new one (without the 'sale' part of it) in the E89 forum.
Having said that, I'll add my non-sale-related 2c worth:
I have the BMS DCI's and think they look a little rough, but that could be due to them being a bit crammed in under my aftermarket strut brace.
I'm also wondering if they do much good in the hot engine bay, and am looking at replacing them with the AFE Stage 2 Cold Air Intake instead, as the filters sit inside a more OEM-looking heat shroud. Look a lot better IMHO, and hopefully perform a bit better as well.

I wouldn't bother with DCIs. They have been shown to make absolutely no difference in performance and they also make your engine bay look crap.

I went with one of those FMICs from Aliexpress and had difficulty with fitting the pipework into the new intercooler. It was an incredibly tight fit, even after removing the charge pipe from the car. It also doesn't perform that well. It's a big upgrade from the stock one but not on par with the alternatives.

If doing the same thing again I could go with a VRSF 5" HD intercooler. https://www.n54tuning.com/vrsf-street-intercooler-fmic-upgrade-kit-07-12-135i/335i/535i/x1/z4-n54-n55-e82/e84/e89/e60/e90/e92.html#

I purchased my downpipes from VRSF and they fit perfectly and came with all the accessories needed for fitment.

thanks for the link.

I'm going to look for a data logger first so that I can't see if installing the FMIC makes any difference.

MHD has a datalogging function. You can also use TestO but it's not as user friendly.

There's no question if intercoolers work or not, there's lots of topics about intercooler efficiency containing log data on the likes of E90Post for all different types of intercooler. It would be nice to see a before and after for your install though.

New FMIC arrived today, it looks very well made. All the welded seams are very clean and neat. I'll report back on ease of fitting and performance as soon as...
