When I get my coupé I'd like to upgrade all the bulbs in the cabin and the headlights.

could some nice chap who has swapped all the above please give me a link to what I need :D

most of the lights in the car are 501 (also called w5w)

ebay is your friend. can get from China. Much cheaper though you'll have to wait a few weeks.

Sorry correction Neil...C5W are the lights, you will need two bulbs for your reading light, one each for your foot wells ( thats IF you have the foot wells )??
And chinas ones are crap and cheap, 1x BMW Z4 E85 2.0i 239 C5W White Interior Courtesy Bulb LED Superlux Light New try these for the reading lights, get two tho!

pretty sure I have footwells

I'm not sure if there are lights in there already -.- easy to fit some there if not??

my footwell, numberplate, central cubby and map lights are all the 501 (same as sidelights)

only the central interior light and boot light is the festoon type.

"And chinas ones are crap and cheap",

Johnny do you think there is a factory in the UK producing LED lights?
I strongly suspect the majority LEDs lights available originate from the far East.
We stopped making anything in this country a few years back. :(

I bought my interior LED's from bimmian.com

Can't say enough good about this on-line retailer. Professional, courteous, great service and bulbs made SPECIFICALLY for BMW's, not some cheap chinese universal crap (I speak from experience). Error free by design. They have all applications, interior, license plate, boot, xenon headlight kits, etc...

In the end, you do get what you pay for.

Guys,

Why would you want to swap to LED? The energy saving in this application is minimal (and in fact don't they have a resistor to simulate the load of a conventional bulb so that the CAN BUS doesn't report a broken bulb?) I'm a massive fan of LED's - built a few mountain bike lights with CREE's etc. but they do tend to be quite harsh - not the sort of soft colour that you'd want in a car I'd have thought.

Ready to be enlightened (no pun intended)...

seems people like the bright harsh light

Energy savings was never a consideration in my case. Nothing harsh either about my full LED lighting inside the cabin. I like the way the interior materials now look the same colour as during the day, plus the fact that visibility within the cabin is much improved, without any disturbing glare or other artifact added by the LED's.

People also comment on how "high end" the interior feels with that lighting.

I do have footwell lights, I've noticed my coupe has a red light which shines down from the roof into the cabin for some ambient lighting and I was thinking I'd maybe like to continue this by having similar colour lighting in the footwells.

ordered 6 of the w5w led bulbs - £20
