Upgrade wiring final questions

I’m just looking for some clarification before ordering things, to see what people think I really need.

My car is a 2005 reg, but has a build date of September 2004.

There are 3 main things I’m planning to do:

1)
Cruise control… now I *think* this should be straight forward and NOT need the extra wiring as per the guides.

2)
MFSW, not sure on this one at all, but since the extra harness is very cheap, I’ll just buy it anyway… I think I may need it.

3)
Heated seats…. I’ve confused BMW with this and their official stance is "we are not getting involved"… but my thoughts are, since my current ones are elec, then they already have the power going to them… so if I plug elec/heated ones in (and get the heater control for the seats) then when I press the on button they “should” work OK… does anyone know if that thought is correct?

So that is basically what my question is… for the 3 additions above, do we think the correct stuff will already be there, will need extra wiring/can’t do, or a mixture of both?

I can't really answer your questions directly. Generally speaking, it seems to be hit and miss whether wiring exists or not for various options. Some cars have it, others don't. YMMV. You may get some indications on what to expect from others, but you will not know for sure until you start digging into your own car.

You can get some idea of what wiring and connectors to look for by examining the WDS. Your logic regarding power and heated seats is flawed. The power wiring to move the seats about is not adequate to supply seat heaters. A separate circuit and wiring is provided for the heating circuits.

Good luck with your upgrades, I hope they all go smoothly. (sincerely, not sarcasm, may not have been clear due the the sceptical tone of the rest of my post)

1) Already wired, just plug and play. Just need to cut out the lower cowel to fit around the switch.

2) Should be all set as the cut off is 09/03. No need to do any wiring. I can email you a PDF to install.

3) No - unless you already have heated seats the loom won't be there. Easy to find out by raising the seat. The plug is a composite one and groups everything together. If you have the heavy harness coming out the carpet to a socket with nothing plugged in you're all set. If not as I'll be it's another loom required. Don't disconnect the loom with ignition on or you'll trigger air bag light

cheers, I thought 1 and 2 would be OK.... ordered the cruise stalk and new wheel...

just looked under the seat, I only have the yellow block plugged in.... nothing 'extra' or loose.... :(

so I guess my new heated and elec sports seats will remain cold....
