Upgrade my z4 2.0lt

Soz, it was meant to be a joke,

But seriously to gain any significant horsepower is going to cost, air filter, power commader, exhaust, chip set, etc,, then you might as well buy a bigger lump.
 
New engine. :thumbsup: It would cost you anywhere from $3000 to $8000 for the engine. (not new)
For the small gains I would say CAI, headers, exhaust, comp. flash.
 
Depends how much a 3.0lt costs in Greece though. If it's anything like in Cyprus it's going to be at least 40-60% over UK prices.
 
I think getting it breathing and maybe a new chip would make a huge difference. Maybe not compared to a 3.0l but compare to standard 2.0l

So new air filter, stainless exhaust, de cat and chip must push you to 2.5 bhp!

Not trying to be rude. But I honestly don't think it's worth the money to upgrade the HP on a 2.0. Go for the looks. :thumbsup:

the engine we both have (valvetronic) does not accept any serious upgrades.
Only a software remapping that will give you 5-10 hp, but with a high possibility for strokes (pyrakia as we call it).
In our greek bmw forum we have long discussions about this and nothing else can be done.
I could give the link but it will be 'all greek to everybody else' so if you need details PM me.
Air filter change needs a lot of attention otherwise we may end with 'breath' problem and maf light on.
The exhaust change on the other hand may similarly offer you lots of noise with no result. That is why if you check the serious aftermarket exhaust makers, they dont offer any alternative solution for valvetronic engines.

I agree on the power mods. You could also consider getting a 2.2 or 2.5 with chip tuning which would bring you up to 185hp for the 2.2i or 207hp for the 2.5i... With induction kit, de-cat and stainless exhaust, you might get even more out of it.

What is the price for a 2.2 or a 2.5 in Greece? In general they are not much more expensive than a 2.0 because you pay more taxes... Also the 2.2 and 2.5 are 6-cilinder engines which sound just a little better than a 2.0 4 cilinder...
