I wish people would compare like for like.
He is coming from a 2.0i 06 model. The 09 23i is a step up let alown 35SI. It may be a step down in terms of certain toys these get stripped out in new models forcing you to pay major money and then added back in as the car gets older like now Msport is the free upgrade on the current E89. My first 03 was SE but fully loaded 6K then the other 2 had most of the toys in the sport editions for not a lot more except the pop up sat nav and elec seats.
My 10 plate 30i had nada, 3 positional seats (poor) no parking sensors, elect door mirrors, heated seats, blue tooth, wind deflector compared to the e85 2.5 SI sports.
So I slummed it for a bit as I did opt for the 3.0 engine rather than the 2.5i. Now I have most of them back in the 28i Msport. GO FOR ENGINE not trinkets. Dont overpay for the trinkets you wont get the cash back unless you want to keep the car for + 4 years and really want that trinket. look at msport package rather then standard has better bumpers and added trinkets which as a derivative you should get a bit back.
Yes I would advise anyone to go for the 35SI but come on how many of us have actually chose it, like the e85M tis only a dream and is not in my price range, rather have a new 28i than a old 35i.
Now 6 pot V 4 pot, he already has a 4 pot so you are actually saying he and I (and most people getting new z4's will be 4 pots) are driving a cars not designed for these poor engines.
What a load of snobbish tripe. Purist would get a porker, rear engine is the best, so puts all z4s on the not a real sports car list.
My 2.0 turbo 4 pot 28i is faster than the six pot 23i and the six pot 30i and only just a bit off the 3.0 turbo 6 pot 35i but COME ON how many of us can actually use this in normal driving. My old 2.5 was way fast enough down country roads to keep scoobies from easy take making them have a 2nd think.
Its like saying BMW should not produce a z4 below 300 bhp because its not a real sports car.
I have had 4 6 pot zds and so far well chuffed with my 4 pot 28i like he is with his current e85 2.0 4 pot
