Upgrade from an 3.0is to the M/// ?????

I know the only real way to determine MPG is by calculating it yourself, but if it helps in the month I have had the M the reported fuel consumption has been 25.6* vs about 30 - 31 in my 3.0si. So if that's to be believed it's only 5 MPG worse off...

[*] yes I know that probably means I'm not driving it hard enough!

Cheers  for all your input on this, have a lot to digest.....
BTW Breaker, it would only ever be a coupe

It's also slower..... :poke: although not much !!! before Breaker/Kryton intervene

Err, I understand the iS is quicker than an M, 450nm standard and 500nm for a few seconds+DCT box :fuelfire: but not by much :)

I'm thinking of doing the upgrade from an 3.0is to the M///
Q: is it worth the x money and will I notices a big difference in overall performance ?
has anyone done this and what's your thoughts! Do it or keep the money.. :|

Just check you will be happy to pay a lot more running cost wise to own what will feel like the same car after a while (aesthetically speaking). Depends how you drive.

Can't agree with you mate!!

If this is the case then why are you rolling in a 35i and not a 23i?? They will feel like the same car after a while won't they asethetically speaking?

I personally won't have got into my Z4 without having that epic S54 "M" Straight Six. At the end of the day, an "M" car is always about driving experience and not winning the beauty contest.

On the other hand, the current Z4M is probably going to be one of the last proper "M" cars ever build before they start putting force induction into future M cars. And also, with 1600kgs to haul for a 2 seater in the new E89 Z4, the car is not going to do lot of corners without skidding off the cliff. Therefore, like someone else has already said, its a no brainer.

I had the 2.5i and then was thinking M or 2.0si, eventually after a test drive went for the M, never regretted it. Yeah I agree i get about 20-22mpg, but its much more fun. I'm a roadster man and on a nice sunny day when u put ur foot down and listent he exhaust and the engine its awesome. nothing beats that feeling. So far i cant think of any other car in this range which can beat it. I feel 35is is a bit overrated, obviously i havent driven it but fill it is. Yeah bit more torque at top end but the the whole experience of driving the M is different. Its not M at the end of the day. So watever nothing beats it. My advice TESTDRIVE TESTDRIVE TESTDRIVE see whats best for u.
good luck
