As a side note, I can not think of any car sub £100k that looks better than a black Z4MC with 19" CSLs. I know mine looks stunning, but you know when you have that niggley feeling?

I've got to agree there mate :D Get shut and get a proper one

Dream on IK - I`d rather cut the roof off it it and grow plants in it. Only a few months ago I was offered £15000 trade-in.
PVR, what is your average over a 3-4 week period? I can get 40mpg out of the 3.0 when driven very carefully on a long journey (such as up A34 and then towards Milton Keynes along A/B roads. My average over a few weeks is now about 30mpg and that is not exacly driving conservatievly and is with some town driving mixed in,.

I don't do town driving at all, so my fuel consumptions are long distance only. On a drive back from Scotland with cruise control set at 79, I get early thirties.

Remember that the displacement of the engines are not that different so if driven in a similar way, the consumption is fairly similar. Obviously if you take advantage of the additional power - you will use considereably more. Never have had less then 23 - 25 from the M though, and that is with 170+ on the German motorways and mountain driving. do have an RPI scoop though.

How do you guys get over 24 mpg? I am not a mad driver, but i average at around 22.5, max i have had is 24.5mpg and i was being ultra careful, went up to Ashbourne/Dovedale last week and the run up there was very sedate and still only got 22.5 and i had the roof up all the way there and back,i think my mpg computer is stuck

As for owning an M ,do it ,it is the best thing i did, though i was not upgrading from the 3.0 but i have test drove one. Its worth the extra running costs, but could be pricey to upgrade at the minute as M prices seems to have gone up slightly.

Nice one Shunt, here's one of my favourites which I "borrowed" from somebody here on the forum.

After seeing it on 5th Gear, forget the M if you sell the Z4 and get the 370Z Nissan! :P

That may be my next car!!

The Nissan looks cheap, is overweight, overstyled, the dash is still crap and you'll get the ugly wife at swingers parties.

Decision made, Nissan it is. The ugly wives are usually the dirty ones - not used to the attention you see but love it

Not sure I`d be welcome at such parties though, I`m not married and I don`t think the other guys would like Cherry my little rubber girl - well used.

It seems a very common dilemma. I changed mine from 2.5i to M in december paid 8k on top. U might say its a bit expensive. I'm on PCP and pay about the £75 more than I did for my 2.5i. I had to fork out 3k of my cash but overall. For that money I would rather have M. Of course its expensive to maintain but I've never looked back since. I have had it for 6 months and still dont regret it. Every spin is different. I do about 600miles a month sometimes more, mostly city driving and driving sensibly u can get abotu 20mpg but if i do motorways around 85-90mph then I can get about 27-28mpg. If u keep under 3k rpm u get a better mileage almost 30+. good luck mate test drive for long. atleast an hour. dont do motorways, try som enice ountry roads, brake hard and then accelerate test the performance and then decide. good lukc

I`m coming to confiscate that car from you. An M stuck in the city, that`s abuse  :poke:

I don`t have an M. At the moment I`m driving 300 miles a week through winding country roads with some awesome "S" bends and some long wide straights. Ahhhhh, heaven - that`s M territory  This morning however I got stuck for 10 miles behind a coach as soon as I left home :(

Ah, but with the M you would have had the power to overtake the coach :poke:

True, but it was more due to lack of visibility - couldn`t see past the coach or far enough past it to evaluate the risk involved in overtaking. Even the 3.0 Si has enough power to break traction overtaking on such roads but quite negatively the runflats sometimes try to put you through a hedge if the camber catches you out while overtaking through narrow lanes)

Having said what I said, On weekends i take it out for a spin in country roads in worcestershire which are pretty good and overtaking is not a problem at all u need a few 100yards and off u go. befor u blink u r past it and back on speed. I have a hondo civic(mrs car), she doesnt use as i drop her at work everyday but in this good weather and having an M be it city or country I cant stop driving it. I just drive to tesco express which is 2 miles from my place to get milk whereas the main tesco is 100 yards away. Its all pleasure of driving it. as i said i cant stop driving it. U should get M, i feel sorry for u
