Can you fit some of the temporary magnetic bump strips, they're available from the just-roadster website I think

Its a strange thing, but when you park the zed its like everyone and his dog wants to park as close as possible etc etc ...... whereas in the RR, everybody keeps well away.
The RR is parked in the airport car park right now for 14 days whilst Im offshore and the Zed is safe at home - I sleep better knowing that.

Starting to think there is something wrong with me.
I drive to the airport take the ticket from the machine find a parking space, take my things out the Zed make sure nothing is left on display lock the car and go catch my plane.
So far this year it has spent about 6 weeks parked up a long stay carpark and has spent several weeks previously in airport carparks.
I have recieved no dings or scratches.
Without trying to trivalise it, I think you can turn worry into paranoia and end up not taking your car anywhere and what's the point of that.

There are several health issues going on within my family at the moment which are literally life and death and after the sh*t the family has been through in the last few years with these issues your perspectives changes a bit, you start to realise what is really important and I'm afraid it's not a Z4.
Apologies to the OP for getting a bit serious but threads of this type make me laugh, I can understand the frustation of careless damage but it is a car and in the worst case senario it can be repaired, I remember 3 days after paying nearly 32K for my Z I was reversing off my parents driveway and the bottom of the front bumper scraped on the pavement due the angle of the drop curb.
RichardG makes a very good point. It wouldn't be too hard to get so paranoid about damage to your Zed that next thing you know you're fitting one of those hideous black bras to your front bumper and eventually not driving the her at all for fear of damage. That would suck!
Like I said before, it's a numbers game, so just do things like smart parking and chances are your pride and joy will be fine

I thought I was the only one with such paranoia.
I am always careful where I park and the one time I thought "nothing will happen" I parked next to a nice new Porsche Cayenne who just carelessly opened his door on the front wing. It did get me furious, not because of the dent, but the lack of respect from other drivers. Cars are there to be driven and used, but deliberate damage is infuriating.
Im sure you'll be fine where ever you park it, I happen to still think there are more people out there that are mindful of other people's cars an the ones that aren't.

Thanks everyone. All good advice. I'll park carefully and try and forget about the risks!
Sadly the harder you try to look after something the more likely it is to come to harm. I used to own a £500 Vauchall Omega which i'd treat like crap. Never washed it, opened to doors into walls, climb on the roof etc - yet it looked mint when i sold it. My Z seems to pick up dings despite treating it like a piece of porcelain, parking in the quiet ends of car parts etc.
To prove my point. Just before xmas i parked in a multistory car park early one morning. The entire level was empty and parked in the far corner directly next to the wall in order to minimise the risk of someone parking next to me and therefore the potential for picking up a door ding.
I was only 10 minutes, a very quick errand. I return to find this:
(yes thats my car BEHIND the Civic)
The rest of the car park still empty
No damage, but just goes to show no-matter how hard you try - the great unwashed will get you!

i bought 4 of these http://www.awanplc.co.uk/Car-Accessories/All-Ride-Car-Accessories/All-Ride-Magnetic-Sign-Kit.html from a shop called this is it in paignton devon 2 years ago when on holiday 2 on each side does the job for me, they are white but i suppose you can blow them over if you want for the price of a can of spray. they are 12 x 18 inch in size there only a couple of quid each on that site and do put your mind a rest
RichardG makes a very good point - at the end of the day it's only an object which can be repaired. Although I know I would be p****d off if I came back to a bump.
Although I'm cautious about where I park - not abandoned or in an inconsiderate location, I don't worry too much. As soon as you lock it and leave, you're at the mercy of the fates regarding who parks next to you or who walks past.

When I was in the UK and had to leave a previous precious car at an airport I always used a valet service. They would meet me at the drop off point and take the car to a safe secure location. They have your flight details and are there to meet you immediatly at the pick-up point on your return. As I recall it was'nt that much dearer than the long stay car park and for me the ease convenience and peace of mind was well worth the cost.
No long walks, no buses/trains and no anxiety. As I also got a small discount as a PCGB member. Must be worth an ask.............
