That does look a good buy, sensible mileage, se suspension but with the all important heated msport seats:thumbsup: not sure about the stubby tho

Nah that's the first thing to go - get he whips back on there, it is a nice car for certain :D

Hi, thanks for sharing. I had previously seen this one and thought that would be an ideal car. Unfortunately, my budget wouldn't stretch to around the £13,000 the vendor is looking for. At best I could only go to around £11,500, possibly £12,000 for the perfect car. Thanks again.

Given how clean that car is, the mileage and price in the current market I can’t believe it’s still for sale!

Hi,

Thanks for your keeping this Forum string going. I'm really grateful for all the links being provided.

I do like the look of Jo's SE Highline, however the mileage is a higher than I would like. But, putting things in perspective, a car of that age would normally have a much higher mileage, so in that sense it does have low miles.

Thanks for the links, but I am not interested in 4-cylinder models. One of the important appeals of the Z4 in my mind is the silky smooth straight 6 engine. It also fills the engine bay nicely.

Derek

hmmm, I guess the car has to be right for you but Jo's e89 is pretty low mileage, not super low but the fact is 50ish k is really is next to nothing for an e89, mine is on 68k and drives like an almost new car...a saying you will often hear around this forum is buy on history and condition not mileage and it certainly rings true with a z4

Hi, I think you are right about condition and history. Jo's car does appear to be a very well kept example. Although its a good 7 hours round trip away I think it would be worth viewing. I won't be able to view this weekend, but will probably do so next weekend - assuming it hasn't sold.

Thanks for your helpful comments.

Derek

FWIW 50K miles for an N52 engine is just getting it run in!

I had a 325i with the same 2.5 litre N52 that had done 139K when I sold it and the engine was silky smooth and pulled really well. I replaced it a couple of years ago with a 330i also with an N52 that has done 115K that also runs and pulls great.

There are a few silver ones on A/T around 40 to 50k miles but are at least £1200 more than Jo's car - is it worth the extra money for 10k miles.

Get in touch and ask for a video walk around

You could ask Jo to do some walk round videos or 1000rr may give her a hand since he previously advertised the car for her so you would have a pretty good idea of the car before making the trip.

The mileage is low for both that engine and the age of the car

Here is one to compare against Jo's, the mileage you want and Msport but over £2k more, I know where my money would be heading - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/294241966108?hash=item448230181c:g:h8UAAOSwJOtg1Ctb

You snooze you lose - did link it a few weeks back.

There are a couple of silver ones on A/T with similar mileage and one is a similar price as well :) (miramar cars)

Thanks everyone for continued comments and advice.

You clearly have to move quickly once you find what appears to be a very good car (hadn't appreciated the Z4 is so popular with good ones selling fast). The only consolation from this is that it has helped me widened my thoughts about higher mileage cars and the fact that by the time Jo's car had sold to a dealer, I hadn't reached this point.

Onward and upward. I'll continue my search.

Hi, you were correct about a suitable car turning up unexpectedly. I had messaged the vendor of a car some weeks ago who unexpectedly contacted me at the begining of last week saying that his car was still for sale. This was the 2005 3.0 SE manual (40,000 miles), saphire black in Penzance, Cornwall. Thanks to Rob who sent me the relevant link viewtopic.php?f=41&t=129348 .

Despite the long drive from Kent over the weekend (8 hours for the journey home - awful traffic!) I returned with the car yesterday. It drove beautifully. I can see the appeal of the Z4 and really pleased I bought it. I'm very glad I joined the Forum and look forward to owning my Z4.

While an E89 would have been nice I quite like the older model/styling.
