Ah, the perils of a factory order...

Apparently my car has finished production now, so is either on the boat or will be on the boat Real Soon Now. Arriving in third week of August, so I'd have to be a complete nut case not to wait until 1st September to register it[*]. I guess I can go and drool over it at the dealer during that week...

[*]For those members not in the UK, British numberplates have a number in the middle that indicates the date of first registration. It changes in March and September, so March 2007 is '07' and September 2007 is '57'. The difference in secondhand value between a 2007 '57' and a 2007 '07' can be several thousand pounds, so nobody registers cars at the end of a registration period.

I understand and agree with your logic....However I am unsure if the human body is capable of producing the amount of drool you will need in order to pull that off...Please be careful, and keep an eye open for signs of extreme dehydration. You may want to have a friend go with you to call for medical assistance should you black out

That's not correct mate, difference is more like a few hundred, i spent 2 months searching for my Z4M and the only difference between dec 06 cars and mar 07 cars with similar mileage was no more than 500 when taking all things into account and that is for a different year car as well, difference between an 07 and 57 in the same year will be 200 tops, used buyers look at mileage and age, so an Aug 07 car with a similar mileage to Sept 57 car will be worth around the same when depreciation adjusted. The huge gulf you are looking at is most likely the huge depreciation these cars suffer from new and that can't be avoided, it is because of this huge depreciation that the gulf between new and used is so small, my Mar 07 car had 261 miles on the clock when I picked her up last week and effectively i got a 26% discount on the new price of £46,430, I hope you got a decent discount as well!

It'll be hard waiting, the Z4M is simply an amazing car, I absolutely love mine, so much so i'm actually going to wash her again this saturday, that makes twice in 7 days, NEVER done that before!

Agreed - when valuing the car, it is valued on month - not registration mark anymore.

So you're telling me you wouldn't wait the week?

Should what they are saying be true that cuts the drool factor tremendously, and you may just be able to pull it off without medical attention....Best of luck,I'm pulling for you

it's definitely well worth waiting the week, given the choice i'd take a 57 over an 07, money is money

Agreed

I actually waited 6 weeks extra for mine - when ordered in November I was told it could be ready end of Jan/beginning of Feb, but I waited till March instead.

I'd probably wait a week, if that's ll the difference is.

You'll find that the yearly plates don't make a huge difference like they used to. You'll probably find a bigger difference between a 2007 '57', and a 2008 '57' though.

There's no way I'm waiting another 3 months! :driving:

This is a big thing for me. I'm 34, and this is the first time I've bought a car with less power than its predecessor.

But I'm still looking forward to it. Lots. :D

I wouldn't sweat it. I had a Tuscan S with 390bhp before, and the M brings just as many smiles to my face as that did, if not more. It's not as quick in a straight line, but it's 10 times better in the corners (and on build quality!).

What car did you have before?

Pretty sure you won't be disappointed, I recall you saying you had a Cerbera before. Hopefully the ///M will be as fast.

What's the full spec of what you're getting?

Er, no nav or stereo upgrade.

Black sapphire, Imola red leather, grad tint windscreen, bluetooth, PDC (coz you can't see out of the back), didn't get the tinted windows (thought it would make the inside too dark), storage pack, can't remember anything else. List price was just over £43k I think (not that I paid that ofc).

On the post-delivery list is an ice>Link adapter for the iPod (got one already in the wife's E46), and an H&S exhaust a la sixspeed (might have to wait a bit for that).

Previous car was a Cerbera with suspension specced by Joo at Trackcar solutions, so was fast in a straight line and round corners. But it was a bit 'raw' for everyday use, and my wife's feet didn't reach the pedals which meant it spent a lot of time in my garage.
