Update thread with pics. Wheels, springs, spacers and whippy!

Been a month now since I lowered my e89 on Eibachs. It's settled nicely and I'm impressed with the improvement in ride quality; composed and no longer choppy. I'm even keeping the RFTs which I'd budgeted to replace, but to be fair there is plenty of life left on them and I quite like the ride now. I will consider non-RFTs when it's time to replace them.

I've installed spacers front and rear (along with longer wheel bolts) to fill the arches and, in my mind, the car's stance is way better. The way it should have looked from factory.

To top things off I've had all four wheels stripped and powder coated.

Took the first pic at ground level so you get an idea of arch gap. I'm pretty happy with the look. I didn't want to go too low and comprise ride comfort. I'm running 12mm rear spacers and 3mm front (to keep things hubcentric) - the next jump to hubcentric at the front would have been 12mm, which I tried, but it wasn't for me. With my current setup, the distance from the face of the wheels to the bodywork is equal front and rear. I think I've achieved the 'OEM+' look I was aiming for.

Looking great Iceman. Hopefully you will see similar results from me in the coming weeks. I have 15mm rear spacers+ bolts and a set of Eibachs waiting for me when I get home next week. Found the replacement procedure on Bim*£$"&*st and looks straight forward. I have manufactured a top strut nut socket to ease removal.
Steve, thanks for your advice and opinions on the matter recently. Still to decide on wheel change tho.

You'll like the ride even more on non-RFTs. A lot more.

You'll like the ride even more on non-RFTs. A lot more.

Yeah, no doubt! I heard many positive things about swapping them out, and after some research was going for Continental SportContact 6 tyres. For the moment though, with the improved ride comfort on Eibachs, I'll be keeping the RFTs until I wear them out!

Looking forward to seeing your results. Be mindful of rubbing with 15mm spacers on the rear. You might be OK, but heard from others it might rub. Depends what wheels/tyres you're running.
