UPDATE - Thoughts on this Z4MR?

I posted last month about a Z4M and now this one has cropped up. I appreciate it does not have sat nav or cruise but it seems like an honest example and about £1500 cheaper than a similar one with sat nav. There is one advertised here (£13,500 in Interlagos Blue with Champagne Leather) but I can't get hold of the owner.

What thoughts do you have on this for £12,000?

************* UPDATE *************

This popped up on eBay recently and the chap is selling this and his van to get an X5 so he can tow a trailer for his moto x bikes and have some luxury.

It seems well priced with recent Inspection 2, roof motor and rear springs.

The only thing I am not sure of is red leather - is it a bit OTT or does it suit the image of the car?

Definitely looks like that vehicle is fitted with an aftermarket exhaust system so do bare that in mind too incase you were looking to purchase a completely stock car... :)

Not keen on the Del Boy exhausts and added M badges on the grill, wheel centres and interior

Not keen on all the extra M badges, there are enough already... But they can be removed/changed easy enough. I'd want to spend some time in the car at different speeds to understand whether the exhaust introduces unwelcome noise, i.e. drone at motorway speeds.

The exhaust is just tips - the original system is fitted and the tips can be removed in 5 mins. I had a drive in a Z4M with an aftermarket exhaust and it did drone and was not in keeping with the car.

I don't like the grille badge but that can be taken off but think that, perhaps, the seatbelt sleeves break up the black on black theme?

Is there a way to get a read out of the spec with the reg but not the VIN as I would like to see.

I am looking at a 2007 Z4 3.0si on the same day so it may be that is the way for me but will then hanker after the M!

Seat belt sleeves look ok - I'm thinking of getting them for mine as being a short arse I need the pads else the seat belt cuts my neck. They're removable too anyway. As for seeing the spec without the VIN, dobpt know a way I'm afraid.

Good news about the tips, I'm with Adam - do it

There is a way... Go to the BMW warranty website, enter the plate and it pulls up the vin for you... Then go to www.bmwarchive.org and enter the last 7 digits of the vin that BMW give you and 'hey presto' - it's a great tip I found on here :)

Weird thing is, when I put my reg in it tells me it can't find my car :?

BMW won't be aware of your plate. Don't forget it's only just been out on the car and hasn't seen a dealer since.

Is it a private plate Bing? Sometimes the database doesn't like those and you have to go with the original one.

Good point... Though it didn't recognise PVRs private plate when I tried it a while back either. Maybe it really IS a ringer

I'd also ask about the 9 months remaining warranty - is that the BMW AUC warranty, the BMW extended/insured warranty, or something which the trader he bought the car from supplied (in which case, is it any good and is it transferable to a new owner?)

The warranty is a third party one rather than with BMW - I see it as a nice to have in this instance rather than a deal breaker. Most private sales do not seem to have a transferable warranty so this is perhaps a small perk although I would not trust it until I actually see the terms and conditions!

engine bay looks very clean... nice car, and some minor tweaks will take it back to complete oem look. If it drives well and Fsh, id buy . looks clean from the pics and you'll only be the 4th owner which really isn't to bad for this year of car, I've seen 7-8 owner cars now.

The latest update from the owner.

Non run flats is standard on the M :)
Service history is all above board according to time so if you drive the car and it feels right to you then go for it

According to the 'two year rule' your next service is essentially due now so you may need to factor that in as a way to haggle

The only issue with the history is that it means the oil service is due now, not in 5,000 miles. It's either/or, whichever comes sooner. Looks kosher otherwise though as Nina says

An oil service is apparently £169 from BMW (similar to my E39) and a good bartering tool. One if the alloys has a scuff and the front tyres are running low (ish) on tread depth.

What would you go for as an opening salvo on price? If I can get the cost of the oil service plus some tax contribution would that be fair or do you think there is further room?
