Update software?

Is there any kind of software update for the Z4
My car is from 2003 and maybe the software is an "older" version??

Do you mean engine software or chassis system software updates in general? BMW constantly "tweek" the original software from time to time in a bid to make improvements or in response to certain problems or flaws that may arise after the original software "map" was chosen. Quite often they will update your software without your knowledge during routine servicing or other repair. A dealer should be able to check whether your car has the most up to date software version available.

Yes there are updates as curtis said.
What I would like to add is that in Greece if you dont ask them specificaly to update the software they dont do it on their own.
This is from personal experience...

Im going to ask my dealer if they do it on demand or not...
Probably you have to ask for it :D

However I shouldnt expect any magic to happend with an update?!

Updates can also prove problematical, "if it ain't broke..."

Thats what concerns me could have my 2004 software replaced with 2008 but will have to talk to my mate at BMW and see what he thinks.

The local dealer near me did a "minor" software update when the car was in last. Though they claimed it was purely an emissions thing. Well, the car is now getting better fuel economy (about 2 mpg better on average) and it seems to run smoother.

I had my DME reflashed with the latest software a few months back to cure my surging issue.
