Hello everyone,

I must be the first Dane in here? So I apologize for my poor English skills!

I'm about to find me the perfect Z4 (it should be perfect! In Denmark we pay the car about 3 times due taxes ...) :headbang:

In this context, I have a little question (I have reached page 106 in the forum - have been all previous pages through 1:1!)
Here we go:

-1. Are all Z4 3.0 Roadster from 2003/2004 born with M-suspension? The car has the famous "Sports" button.

-2. The car must be purchased in the neighboring country, Germany. Here it is difficult to check the mileage on the car, and many cheat with it.
Are you almost sure there is not cheated (rewind), if not the little spot lights according to the following link and image:
http://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25771

-3. When the original brakes replaced the first time? In normal daily driving. How many miles/kilometers?

It was the beginning ...! :driving:

Thanks for a great and informative forum!

Cheers from Denmark

In the UK yes, not sure about Germany or the rest of Europe.

It's a good indicator but I would say that nothing is certain, so even if the tamper dot isn't showing the mileage could still be incorrect.

Depends really - pads 30k miles discs 60k miles roughly but could be more or less, depending on how it was driven.

Hej hej ATPDK.
Welcome to the forum
Love your country and used to have a Danish girlfriend but never quite mastered the language! Hope you got the answers you needed and good luck with your search.

Hi,

I faced a similar dilemma when looking for my Zed. I originally planned to import one from Germany, but eventually found one from a Polish dealership. The was no duty to be paid (EU), but the excise tax in Poland was also a bit too high.

1)
I remember seeing some continental 3.0 cars without the M suspension and steering wheel, so these might have been optional.

2)
The problem when importing cars from Germany is that many German sellers turn out to be dodgy Turks. There are stories of resprays and odometer rollback, but on the other hand, there plenty of cars to choose from (on mobile.de etc.)

As for the manipulation dot, there are Polish coders who guarantee to erase it - so it seems possible. I remember one Polish user who, after much hassle, had it erased - they had to code the same VIN and mileage in several modules (the cluster and LCM, as far as I remember, but I might be wrong).

Welcome onboard.

1. M sport for 3.0 from 2003-5. I needed to clarify this on mine as there seems to be a difference of opinion. The only way I found out for sure is to use a link that gives the spec of your car after it has left the factory - it's free to use & confirmed my 05 3.0 SE was fitted with M sport suspension

2. Buying in Germany... humm, unless you have friends in the country who can advise, I would be very cautious as most bargains tend to turn out too good to be true

Brakes - supposedly 30-40k, think mine will last 20k and budget for new discs at the same time. If u are doing this & going for an 03-05, consider getting the calipers & carriers off an E46 330 to uprate to 320mm rotors

welcome !

to question one :

yes there are 3.0's without M suspension it was an option, same goes for the steering wheel, al lot do not even have a MF steering wheel.

2 i know enough dutch guys who get there car from germany, just keep out the dodgy cardealers, maybe you can find some on here :
http://www.zroadster.com/
other options are to look at mobile.de of autoscout.de
and if it's to good to be true it probably is.

3 it depend's, it about how they have been used, some brake hard some don't. as they begin to squeak replace them.

and welcome !

Welcome to the forum. Whan I was looking for mine, it seemed discs were being replaced anywhere between 30 and 40k miles ( 48 to 60k kms).Mine didn't need doing until 44k miles (70k kms) so it depends upon what sort of driving the car has done.Brakes are not expensive to replace so don't worry about them.Making sure it's had plenty of services is the main thing. If the springs are gone, they are not expensive either.I hope you find one to buy.The last time I went to Denmark, my wife and I rode home to Northampton from Arhuus in one go,boy was my arse aching after that. :D

Thanks for the warm welcome! - To all of you! :D

It is also a really nice country. Except we pay our cars about 3 times because of taxes! :headbang: Yes, 3 times.
A 2003 3.0i manual E85 with 100,000 km on the counter, it costs here in Denmark about 350,000 DKR = 37.500 GBP!
So in Denmark is a Z4 still VERY rare. But apart from that, then you're right ...
However, I have also heard that our language is difficult to learn - especially since we have æ, ø and å in the alphabet. Your tongues is upside down to these letters ...

To the topic:
I have also found that the M-suspension was an option in the EU. Unfortunately.
But what "I am missing" without it? Tightens undercarriage still up when I press the sport button? Or just speederrespons and steering?
I will not be able to mount these springs instead? And get the same / better effect than M-springs?

- and still use the original "insides" / dampers on the original springs? These springs will lower it a bit and make it harder, right? As an M suspension.

The other thing that car is "missing" is original alarm, but I have seen a retrofit on this site, and it looks easy enough - if I can get the parts. So it does not worry me.
Otherwise, the car is fully equipped.

Best regards from the cold Denmark

With or without M suspension nothing happens when you press the sport button - just steering and throttle response. The Eibachs are a bit lower and they won't break.
