Good morning good people.
Roof issue ,yep another one..
Roof opens locks back as it should, however press the close button nowt ,nothing, not a thing .
I have to operate the bowden cable to pull it over manually, then press the close button and it locks down as it should.
The roof motor doesn't seem to be running when attempting to close it..
Roof motor was relocated to the boot around 6 years back after giving the usual issues. Since then it's behaved untill now..
Any thoughts peeps. Cheers

The car is saying I don’t know where the roof is so I’m not operating

Are the hall sensors in place- check the passenger side of the roof mech where the hinges are to see if the two little black boxes are in place?

I also had this problem after disconnecting the battery. The windows list their settings so the roof didn’t know where they were.
Did a window reset and it started working again

OK thanks peeps ..
how do you do a window reset, is that via obd port?.. or is there an turn key operation..

I'll have a check on those sensors ..
Would a code reader be able to see if the sensors are operating correctly.?

Yep windows drop a centimetre and raise once again after closing.
OK, so more likely to be bigwinn's theory then, but always worth a reset in case it got confused.

Also, try lifting the roof just a few inches by hand, then trying the motor again. If it works then it lends creedence the hall sensor theory as it will have gone past that and be merrily on its way.
However, thinking more on that, if the bottom hall sensor hasn't correctly registered that the roof is fully down then the red light should continue flashing.

When you try to move it up, do you hear the claws moving first? If not, then it's not even starting to carry out the operation.

Also, lower the windows first and see if the roof goes up then (you don't say if that automatic action happens or not?). If that sworks it could be a signal from the GM5 not working properly.

There also two relays mounted on a bracket benhind the glove box (accessible by removing the footwell trim).
Three fuses, 12. 31 and 55.
Can't be 55 as that is the big 40A power one and it's working in one direction at least.

OK cheers chaps I'll check fuses next ill try the easy obvious bits first.
Ill also try the lifting the hood up a little then trying to close with the buttons.

The hood Claws open as normal when opening and lock down when in place with no flashing light.
When lifting hood I'm hearing no noise from pump and no light illuminated,
I haven't tried half way up so I'll see what light i get
Or any lights flashing or not.. ..

I also find it strange that I can here it locking into the hood down position behind me.
But I can't hear it unlock when trying to raise the hood..I'm assuming that this has to happen in a process roof unlocks then motor starts.
If the roof hasn't unlocked would the motor not start?..

So another question by operating the bowden cable bypasses this lock..I wouldve thought it just realeses pump preasure..as it goes to the pump.?
Could be that roof down lock not releasing?

Bowden cable simply opens a hydraulic bypass so you're not pushing against fluid pressure.
If the latches don't motor then the main motor won't run, as it all has to happen in sequence.

As Stuart says, possibly a break in the loom, but would have to be a signal wire to the claws and I would expect that to be the same one that signals them to open when the roof is up, so it's odd that it produces exactly the same symptom every time. Wire breaks tend to be a bit random then give up altogether.

Could do with sticking a code reader on it and checking out the CVM (roof motor control module)
