Unusual vibration at 5-6k on 3.0 si coupe

Hi,

I've noticed that when giving it some beans, the supposedly "silky smooth six" gets a little bit vibratey (is that a word?)
You can feel the vibration through the gear knob and it's very noticeable but not terrible.
I've had similar coupes before and never had a vibration like this.

It's not speed dependant, it's fine at idle and it's not a wheel out of balance.

I'm thinking engine mounts or is it just normal for the car?

Have you checked the front control arms for play ? Vibration can travel back when at speed or slow over bumps ?

Thanks.
Would that come throug the gear knob?

Also, it's a constant thing, like I can leave it at those revs for an hour and it will vibrate.
It's not like a "bump" or knock from the suspension.

I'm thinking it could be the prop?

Not sure the coupe part is relevant. Whatever the issue is could equally apply to the roadster.

Obvious thing to check would be engine mounts. Also, does the vibration occur in every gear?

No I meant that it's nothing to do with having the gearbox right under your left arm, which is what you have in these cars.
I'm familiar with Front longitudinal engine layout cars, that's all. I've not driven a BMW coupe before

Yep every gear
