unstable drive - power flex bushes

So over the last few weeks iv noticed that the car has been very unstable, bumpy and generally all over the place.

popped into a friends garage on the way to work and he put it on the ramp to inspect, turns out that my wishbone rear bushes are worn and need replacing.

I can get power-flex bushed for £57 delivered, only pain in the bum is having having to make time to fit them :headbang:

has anyone had power flex bushes fitted .? if so, would you recommend them?

ive heard mixed feedback about the powerflex, with some replacing and going back to OEM

I've developed an intermittent knocking from the front left when on full lock, might need the same

Get your friend to fit them

Because my fiends has a very busy garage, he not only has to deal with passing trade but also has a lot of big contracts and has vans/cars/lorries in all day everyday from the same company's.

he'd have to do it on a late evening or weekend. so for 1, I don't want to ask him to do something I can do myself, 2, if he did do it I'd feel guilty as he wont charge me and 3, he has enough work to stress about without me adding to the list.

Well with the weather being crap today I decided to get the car in the garage and change the worn bushes, wow what a difference :-) feels like a new car :-)

Took a hour to do both sides, I can't believe the difference, I think because it take so long for them to wear you don't notice it as much, well until you think to yourself this car never used to be so bumpy lol

drives like a new car :driving:

Is it quite an easy job? I'm considering doing the fronts on mine.

Getting the old ones off is most of the problem TBH.

How many are on the car? Never bothered reading up about bushes and tbh my knowledge of suspension and handling is near non existant.

Its a very easy job, getting the old bushes off is also very easy with a little tip. I did just write a full guide but pressed a button and lost it.

I will write it again in he next day or so but this is a job you can to with basic tools in your garage very easily

Did you go for the Power flex bushes or OEM. If you went for power flex, what's the ride like as thinking of replacing mine??

Excellent stuff! It's a complete B*****d on a TVR!

Looking at the videos, I definitely don't have that. Just a slight shudder at high speed light braking. Nothing at low speeds and definitely no noise.

I'll have to investigate the brakes.

But I do have a load of air tools.

With only taking an hour to do both sides it didnt take much time out of your schedule. You didnt say whether you fitted powerflex?
