Anyone else experience overreactions from other drivers on seeing a z4 in their mirror? Twice on Sunday whilst stretching the Z's legs in the north penines drivers pulled over before I'd even got them in my gun sights and then rejoined the road as soon as I'd passed. Where's the fun in that?

Come drive down near London and you can have have all the fun you want. Call me dull but I'd happily swap to be in your position.

They probably think they're being helpful letting you past and probably feel safer doing it that way. At least they're not blocking you or driving up your arse!

Happened to me near Oswestry recently and when I was driving very sensibly too, dull indeed! :)

wish they'd do that round mine way!

It does happen occasionally, and I think "you're a good driver" as I go past. I try and do the same myself.

+1 - I have a lot of people coming towards me on narrow roads pull over before I get there, rather than having the usual game of chicken... But I never have anyone pull in on 'fun' roads to let me past. Perhaps on the motorway if I am really lucky...

Applecross run on Friday. Some young lad in a pimped up Ford Focus was happy to wait behind a van doing 45mph up the loch side road. I wasn't happy to wait. I overtook the Focus, but couldn't manage the focus and the van in one manoeuvre. The Focus driver immediately 'perked up' and began revving up and following me closely, eager to overtake. Needless to say he didn't have the power to get past the van... I did.

Ha, I remember that car purely because of the chav rear lights. What didn't help all of you behind me was me overtaking the van, Focus plus two other cars in a single overtake in the mighty Skoda :driving:

I'd love it if folk just got out of the way and avoided me having to overtake them - makes life far easier. Unfortunately I've found a lot of folk get upset being overtaken by a Z4 (they probably think "show off") and set about chasing after you or making life difficult to pass. I hate seeing that as I'm just waiting for them to bin it as they're trying too hard and driving beyond their car's (or their own) ability...

And another thing...

What about the oncoming car that starts flashing you because they underestimate how quickly you will complete an overtaking manoeuvre. I always shrug, suppress a yawn and wave nicely in the embarrassing time it takes to reach them.

Did you have to brake & make the focus brake pulling in between him & the van in front . Just curious as that would perhaps explain his reaction .

No he wouldn't have had have to brake, there was plenty room in front of the focus and plenty room between the focus and me

I had the same "problem" driving a V6 Tiburon, a mean-looking but underpowered car - everybody swerved aside, but I had hardly the power to overtake them. :headbang: It's different with the Zed, of course.

I used to have a 2l tiberon before the Z - nice car - aggressive looks - not a sports car though as power is rubbish in anything other than 2nd gear, and a worse ride than the Zed. The Zed definately commands more respect on the road although you do get the occassional nob that decides to be annoying 'cos deep down in side they're a little bit jealous
