Unrecorded Stolen/Recovered - Now Bought :D

Hi all,

Getting a second car again, although this time it will be a low emissions van. It's a 57 Plate Fiesta TDCi Van, & is being advertised as:

This has come to us direct from insurance salvage as Unrecorded HPI clear Stolen Recovered There is no accident damage etc apart from the odd dent or mark inside and out from general wear and tear
....
No VIC or VOSA check is required as it is unrecorded and doesnt appear on the the V5 or any checks as ever being damaged.

It was advertised on ebay twice - once he mentioned S&R & it didnt sell, the second time it sold but far too cheaply..

He says he's having problems with the winning bidder dragging his heels, & If I come to look with Cash I can have it which I'm very tempted to do, as it's still in warranty & if unrecorded is surely a perfect bargain. It doesnt need to be mint, just usable.

Apart from the usual - "if it's too good to be true, it usually is" kinda thing, does anyone have any experience of this?

I'm planning on doing a HPI check & if clean, I'll try and go up first thing with some money :D Obviously I'll check it thoroughly, but considering the dents the seller is owning up too (pretty minor) it looks fairly honest.

It's since passed the "mycarcheck.com" thingy.. not listed as Stolen & Recovered... think I'm going to look in the morning :)

that's strange. how can a car come through the insurance salvage and not be recorded? this doesn't make sense to me.

Andy, please please please make sure you enter the VIN number into the mycarcheck before you buy. It will check the plate against the vin for a match

How much is it up for? remember if it sounds too good to be true...

good luck

Let us know how you get on... more importantly, how much difference there is in performance once you've had it chipped

Dec 07 (57) Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi Commercial, 89k. Air-Con, No SH & Clean HPI check... £2,850.

Pretty chuffed with that

Will probably look into this, plan on keeping it for 2yrs hopefully. Drives well, at this weight 10 extra hp would be significant.

Initial wishlist - New Double-DIN head unit for nav & bluetooth, regas the aircon, oil & filters changing & trip to kiwk fit to regas the aircon.

Lowest Euro 4 RoadTax band, seems to average about 67mpg.

Cracking buy at that price :)

The 1.4 TDCi engine is a beauty - we almost bought a same-shape Zetec S TDCi for Mrs a11y instead of the Fabia. Would've been significantly slower (as standard) but would've conpensated with the better economy.

Andy are you actually getting 67mpg out of it?
Just brought it back from Manchester to Warwickshire, in a hurry so it's basically been flat out since I got it but I've only done 150m or so, I'd guess more like 50mpg at that speed.

Still - it won't do that a lot, my rough calculations mean on any single journey it will cost something like 40% of the cost of the /M. Thing is it's slow, and revving it doesn't make a difference, so I think it will get closer to it's theoretical maximum than most. When I drove a 635d I was only getting 21mpg coz it was fun to thrash.

So many hidden advantages which is why it's here, registering for VAT, keeping the rubbish small trips away from the MR, the feel when you get back in after 2wks, etc. Since I sold my 406 HDi I've been driving the MR faster and faster as I don't respect it, this should sort that out again.

At the moment I'm looking on ebay for Double DIN nav units and contemplating which Ford forum is the best to go introduce myself. Is it taunting to make a sig pic with the MR next to the fiesta ?

Am I about the only car on the road with manual windows but aircon ? 8)
