Unofficial BMW Navigation Portible Thread

I've got the in built sat nav that pops up when you put the key in. Yesterday I tried driving for a while with the screen down (so it looks like the storage box lid) and the dash looked crap!
I'm going to respectfully disagree. I think it looks real clean and just flows seamlessly.

Fair comment, I've just got used to the screen being up. In the 1'er the nav screen is fixed (used to be flip up) so I got used to that, and I like this one up as well.

To me, having it down looks like something is missing, but thats just cos I'm used to the screen being there. Crap is the wrong word, cos yes, it looks clean when down....since I got sat nav in built into a car I hate an empty dash.

Thats snobbery I'm afraid!

I've been experimenting with ours, lurking and even posting a bit in a Garmin GPS forum.

Today's Hint:

Automated Speech Recognition defaults to British English. Changing Text Language to American English also changes the ASR language to American English.

So far this works reasonably well. Change Country is not available for American English, so I have to do that on the touch screen.

I just took a few quick snap shots. Might help answer a few questions. It was raining. The anthracite headliner doesn't do much to improve the lighting.

This is what the mount looks like with the Nuvi removed:

This is what is looks like with the Nuvi clipped in but powered off.

And this is what happens when I say "Change Country" with peach wreck cognition set for American.
