Normal motorway regulations and speed limits apply on the M6 Toll, the story goes that the first offender 'got let off' as paying a toll meant you were driving on a privite road and therefore motorway regulations did not apply, they soon closed that loophole

1 lepton can equal 1mph/100mph/13mph/whatever, so it's up to the reader/poster to decide which, and not tell anybody which one you're using.
However I have reliably been informed by a family member that 1.65 hectoleptons is quite achievable
I can never work out whether it's 'better' to speed when it's busier as you've got a lesser chance of being caught (lower police to cars ratio), or whether it's better when it's empty (safer as less traffic, but easier to spot the one doing over 1000 decileptons).
out for a quick blast just before christmas near bodmin cornwall, overtook a bronze coloured 5-series estate just pulling out from a slip road. drove through a village @ 30mph then opened the z4 up again overtook some pokes, came up to a roundabout turned off just in time to see a bronze coloured 5-series estate turn off as well.........hmm. turned left,turned right.......bugger blue flashing light's. olice: 15 minutes in the back off the police car absolutely crapping myself :chophead: .... had a warning VERY LUCKY.

It's the road that goes half a mile away from my house. Use it on a almost daily basis. 85kph and you'll be fine. Really get going and you'll soon find out just how many unmarked Skodas and the like are on it

Not at all. I use them to avoid any inference that I may ever exceed the limit.
On M6 / M42 around Brum:

Interestingly, if you dive by the policed station in Walsall, the police carpark for the patrol cars is out front, so you see all of the unmarked cars in that area.. :wink:

i'm sure that they are bothered if you're doing just over 50 mph...
In Kent where I am, on the M20, M2 and A229 I have seen dark blue recently old 5 series, Focus ST in bright blue, Seat Leon Cupra in Black... And quite a few unmarked bikes. The cars are pretty easy to spot if you're paying attention in the day time, though generally when you're in front of them and you can see the lights hidden in the grill... Which could be too late of course. The bike riders have camera's on their helmets and actually just seem to ride their machine differently to other bikers - whom they are mainly targeting rather than cars.
However, I have seen a silver Jag XF a couple of times now which has bright blue LED-type lights hidden in the indicators and headlights that a impossible to see when they're off.
I believe some forces have also bought unmarked artic cabs so they can see what (some) lorry drivers are getting up to, e.g. Texting, reading, having a ... kit kat :lol:
And the M6 toll road is awesome at 2 in the morning with cruise on - it's like a huge perfectly smooth runway that is all yours as there's no traffic on it. Nice

Seen the ST & Jag in Kent, though watch out for an old blacked out lowered Volvo estate
Lots of Skoda's in Northants police fleet,but some other stuff as well. The best way even if you're going fast is to drive well and safely and not draw attention to yourself.If you're driving like a tw*t , then you deserve a tug.I do 35 -40k miles a year,some in my Z, some in my company ride and some on my bike,have been driving that sort of mileage quickly for more than 30 years and only been nicked 3 times. I like to think I drive correctly for the conditions and don't draw attention.I don't tailgate or do silly overtakes,I don't lane swap on motorways or be aggressive.NEVER speed in a 30 or 40, or in roadworks,I do however spend a lot of my time north of the posted limit on open roads and motorways if the conditions are good and the traffic light.I think, if you are sensible,you'll be ok,if not you'll get pulled.

Geez louise! I thought the coppers were bad in the states. The British government seems to be spending an inordinate amount of time and money fretting over the speed limit. Between having a cop behind most trees, and speed cams, CCTV on every tree that doesn't have a cop hiding behind it. Plus the crazy insurance you folk put up with. How do the citizens put up with it. I do apologize. As this is not meant to be an anti British post. I do admire the British people. But it just kills me to see so many governments (mine included) put ever shorter & shorter leashes on the citizens. Is it just me. Or does it seem that the English and American governments are running to institute Soviet style state control over everything and everyone at every opportunity. After having spent 5 decades and hundreds of trillions of dollars to defeat it. WTF!

I specifically chose to put 85kph because I cannot condone speeding on a UK regulated road :roll:

i think that there is a time and place for speed, along with the above i would also add outside schools etc, but on an open road cars nowadays are built for speed, the highway code braking distances were recorded with a 1960's Ford Anglia for goodness sake!!!!

Bigdog - great rant, though the police aren't as bad as the insurance companies.
Actually just wondering if there are any officers on here that have an opinion that they can't share on a public forum :wink:
