Unlocking & locking issues

Hi All,

I am having a weird issue with my G29 Z4 and wondered if anyone else had experienced the same, and knew how to fix it.

I drove the car out of the garage yesterday to put my Winter Wheels on it. After a short period of time I decided to lock the car whilst I went into the house, and it would not lock with either of my 2 keys. I got into the car restarted it, then turned the engine off and the car would lock.

This morning I have done the same thing, drove the car onto the drive way, locked it and then about 1 hour later came to unlock the car and no joy either key. Fortunately I have the app on my phone so was able to unlock the car that way. Started the car up, reserved it back into the garage, and this time it would lock with the key.

Anyone ever experienced the same thing?

could it be the key fob batteries need replacing? has the car been standing in the garage for a while and is it on a trickle charger?

Hi No the car is used at least once a week at the moment. As you suggested I purchase 2 new batteries and that appears to have fixed the issue (fingers crossed). Thank you.

PS I love your signature strip, I also had a white E89 and now have a black G29

I had the car fail to unlock once, luckily it was parked in the garage at home. As you found, it was possible to unlock it with the app but not the fobs. It has not happened again.

I reported it to the dealers, who were extremely unhelpful, so I never found the cause.
