Unknown telephone equipment?

Hi guys, I am a newbie to the forum, I have put a post in the other section! Yesterday I purchased a Z4 2.2 and inside, on the top left of the windscreen there is some sort of flat black antenna stuck to the windscreen. There is also a microphone looking gadget stuck on the roof part where the red lights shine down. Anyone know what it is or how to operate it? I cant see anywhere to plug a phone? Is it bluetooth? The car has the business cd but no buttons on steering wheel?

That is not standard equipment.

Maybe you can post a picture of what it looks like? Someone may recognise it as a Parrot kit or so.

Oh - and welcome :D

Thanks matey! :D

I'll take a pic when I get chance then and post it up! I was hoping it was some sort of bluetooth device. Never mind :x

The BMW bluetooth equipment is in the boot on the firewall, left side so it is not that ...

Sounds like a typical old style car phone kit. Stubby aerial glued to the window (has to be screen on the Zed I guess). Mike on the dash near the driver and probably holes in the console or dash for the phone cradle was.

IMHO just something to remove and bin.

Sounds like that mate but without any holes or sign of a cradle? I cant work out how the phone would connect? :(

I'll give you 10:1 as you discover the car somewhere behind the glovebox or under the ashtray there are quickly chopped off cables for power and the aerial and mike you have.

Anyway - no big deal, just remove it all and do your own thing.

thats a point- I noticed the part where the ashtray is, its slightly raised on the right hand side as if someone had removed it and couldnt put it back correctly????

Pull the ashtray up and out. You'll see 1 self tapper below. Once out the entire unit and switch gear pivots up and out. Gear lever needs to be in 2nd or D to clear it.

Easy enough to then find out what's raising it.
