Uniroyal's fitted... sketchy...

I've tried driving with dsc off last couple of days and there's a major improvement. It seems it was activating even though no lights on dash. When off the problem goes away. So i guess different tyres front to back just throws out the sensors somehow. Anyway, now fitted matching fronts and seems pretty planted again si problem solved!
Thanks for everyone's input :)

Glad to hear you got this sorted.

I am running the Uni RS3's on the front, albeit in a 225/35 19 profile, and compared to other tyres they do seem to have greater movement across the tread, and a softer compound. So hard cornering does result in a small amount of "squirm" as the tread moves around, which I personally dont like, but then thats how the tyre gets such a high wet weather rating !

I had a new set of Uni Rs3s on the front of my ZM / 235 35 19 & covered almost 7000 "enthusiastic" miles & never once felt they were "squirmy" in the bends :? and I did test them out quite a bit :driving: are you still running the original Se springs on your car ?

Yes, still on original SE springs, but I dont believe thats the issue as the runflat Bridgestones that came with the car never gave that feeling. My car is a weekend toy, and barely gets used, so perhaps the tyres havent bedded in yet.

However, around the time I got mine, I recommended them to my brother. He has a Honda Integra Type R DC2, which he has had for almost 10 years. He swapped all 4 tyres to the Uniroyal RS3's having scrubbed his Goodyear Asy F1s to the wiring !! So i called him this weekend, and asked how he was getting on with the tyres. And in his words "I wont listen to your advice again" !! He said he hated the way the tread moved around. He isnt on the standard 15" wheels that the car comes with, but the Accord Type R 17" wheels, so the rubber is a 215 45 17 fitment. I popped around Sunday evening for a quick blast in his, and sure enough the crispness that is key to the Integras handling had been affected by what appears to be the tyres.

Having said all this, the reason I even bought the Uni RS3's was due to a friend who had replaced all 4 corners with them and raved about how good they were. He has a BMW M135i Hatch and its his daily driver, doing approx 40miles a day of motorway and fast B road blast. And he had come from the Michelin Pilot Supersports which are supposed to be the dogs knackers of the tyre world (never personally run a set of them on any car so cant comment)

So to conclude - Tyres - highly subjective, take what you read with a huge pinch of salt !

Just replaced my Eagle F1's on the rear with the same again, and the new ones felt very squirmy at the back, a couple of hundred miles in though and they are great again. I should have got my geometry done at the same time but I was in a hurry. The thing is old tyres will have worn down to match the road surface, and correct any excessive camber etc. The new tyre won't have had that wear time. The more your geometry is out the longer it will take your new set of tyres to wear to suit. So basically if your tyres are scrubbed or whatever, make sure your geometry is good or you'll be wearing through another tyre pretty quick...

I have a full set of new RS3's on my E85 and shortly after getting them had a Hunter alignment carried out. I still haven't scrubbed them in but they have been just fine from the beginning for me.
