Uniroyal Rainsport 3's

Just thought I'd post a quick comment . I was convinced my Z4 purchased last year had knackered dampers or top mounts at the rear, so bad was the ride and skittish the handling on less than ideal surfaces . However, neither showed signs of failure, but I did see the back tyres needed changed before this year's use.

I have ditched the runflat Bridgestones (255/35/18) and fitted 245/40/18 Uniroyals ...and the car is so much better it is hard to describe. The puncture risk I accept, but the car is much nicer to use, so much so I might otherwise have moved it on in favour of something less firm. (Previous Chimaera rode and handled far better) .

Anyone wondering if its a noticeable difference, go for non runflats, and the Uniroyals appear good value. I admit they might not last as well as Michelins, but they are under £100 each (just!)

Cheers,

Iain

Be interested to hear how the rainsports work for you over the year. I put a set on my Caterham last year when the 'wet' race tyres I was using got too smooth for road use and the design was no longer road legal. Being a 1990's car the tyre size was sierra-ish but the wheel stud fitment was triumph so I would have needed to change the wheels - very hard in that stud PCD to use other size tyres.

The rainsports were about the only option (other than the tyre type my Mam has on her shopper car) but I've been very impressed with them and the way they work with the suspension set up; great grip and ride. So much so I was going to fit them to my Zed when I've squeezed a bit more value out of the run flats and can change/referb the wheels and suspension at the same time.

I have rainsport 3 on my zed. Have completed 4k miles so far and am very happy with them. For the price i doubt there is better.

I have rainsport 3 on my 30i auto all I can say is wow fantastic grip wet and dry can’t praise them enough for price and also looks as from the rear they look awesome 😎

To those of you running these, how long are they lasting you? I’m looking at possibly buying some for my girlfriends z3 and they seem a good option as long as they aren’t finished in 10k

Thanks for that  They still look brand new, as they should I suppose :)

I was a little concerned on the wear rate having read a few reviews but given that the z3 is driven sedately 90% of the time it looks like these would make a good choice. If they last 20k then that’s more than good enough.

Had them on a R50 and they’re holding up really well. Never had an issue and would run them on the Zed if I didn’t have some F1’s lined up!

Put a set on the back March last year and have done 11600 miles on them so far. Hoping they'll last another year..... Good tyres.
I'm probably a bit "steady" though in my driving style.
Put a set on the front today.
Robert.

We have a jag x type 2.5 V6 sport esttate (about as sporty as a dead skunk though) of 2005 vintage, and I fitted 4 of these uniroyals just before the snow. I can swear that the car gets anywhere in snow and ice! Just amazing. Noticed a lot harder ride than the pirellis that were on treir before though. But cant complain about the tyres though.

Ditched the run flats on the 335i for Rain sport 3’s, best thing I ever did, totally transformed the ride from a horse cart to a civilised ride.

I race on them in a friends R53 Mini as a wet weather tyre, excellent in standing water and heavy rain.
