Unidentified "clonk" on 2006 2.0 Z4

I recently retired and have treated myself to a 2006 2.0 Z4 for a bit of fun while I can still get in and out of it. I bought it from a dealer in Cardiff after much searching on the internet. The car is in superb condition with only 41,220 miles and it received a faultless AA report.

However, there is a fairly loud "clonk" which appears to come from the N/S front, even at slow manoeuvring speeds as well as on bumpy roads. The AA report states that the suspension is in good order, with new bushes etc and the exhaust system is firmly fixed. The AA engineer thought the noise came from behind the dashboard, but it seems too loud to me. The car handles beautifully, much better than I had expected. The steering is tight and there is no wandering on the straight, on bends or on braking.

I'd be grateful for any advice as to what the cause is and more importantly if it can be cured.

Thanks for you help.

it could be the front suspension turret braces under the bonnet, try tightening the bolts up on the bulkhead & the turrets themselves.
Mine did similar & it turned out to be these

same here
Bolts / nuts need to be replaced if touched ( apparently ), new bolts at correct torque and noises went including a sharp crack from engine side of bulkhead ,where the 2 x braces meet

ps Welcome Phil :D

I had a bracket go recently on my front anti roll bar. It made a loud clunking when going over bumps ect. Get those checked
