Believe it or don't, but my original post quickly evolved into an Epic Report that was approaching Homer's Odyssey in length, if not significance.
Now you started me again.
I will try point form
Car was pristine when purchased. Not even a paint chip!
I planned on driving it with some mods to keep me interested.
Biggest mod was the Z4M Bumper
When installed in the Spring, I was surprised to see the undertray, and the smaller outter trays were damaged with cracks around the mounts
I just figured the original owner must have run over a curb or similar.
I epoxied and reinforced the damage.
Had a slight concern about location of the oil drain and posted here. Was reassured the plug was under a small cover (I imagined similar to the headlight ports in the wheel well.)
With extended warranty, I return the Zed for yearly oil service.
Oil service was last Wednesday
Everything seemed fine when I drove away.
Curious that I got a call the very next day from the dealer, requesting input on my service experience ..
Yesterday too the Bride out for lunch in the Zed and decided to visit a shopping mall in the next town ..
Cruising along ..
whomp whomp whomp..WTF
Stopped to investigate ,,
Undertray and the extension I used to fill the tray gap are hanging down on the right side so that any speed over 60 kms has it drag on the pavement.
The reinforced mount has been broken clean away
If the undertray had to be dropped or removed to do the oil service,
I might conclude that a ham fisted service tech had muscled it.
I inspected the damage and it falls into the area of - Its easier to do a superior repair rather than make an accusation.
Hey Im Canadian ..We can't help ourselves over here.
The repair will be complete when the epoxy cures,
But from the looks of it ..Maybe I should just toss the whole darn thing and avoid getting whomped again at an inopportune time .
I rest my case
