Understeer

So i've just fitted new Sport contacts to the rear leaving the fronts alone; I'm getting major understeer right now - i just want to check this is normal and that other experience this? Even with the LSD?

Just for piece of mind and that i dont need to check ive got problems elsewhere 8)

With brand new tyres on the rear you should be having oversteer as the tyres have not bedded in!

So new tyres on the rear and i think they've bedded in now (Sport Contact 5's); On roundabouts - without driving like a looney, the nose is pushing wide. I'm thinking that putting loads of grip on the rear is now giving me huge under-steer, i can even hear the rears scrabbling a little as i try and push for over-steer.

is this normal? Or do you guy change fronts with the rears too?

Yes, that sounds normal to me. If the fronts are old the rubber will not be as grippy so more prone to understeer. My wifes Boxster is the same, I always prefer the on track handling balance having replaced the fronts only.

Reasonably powerful RWD car you would want to put new tyres on the rear. The push you get coming into the corner off the throttle or trail braking can be countered by throttle. If you had put the new ones on the front you'd get snap oversteer which is much more difficult to control when you're pushing on.
