Underside of bonnet (poll)

Bit of an odd question but I've just had somebody telling me that the zed has clearly had a new bonnet at some point as it's matt black underneath.

When looking before buying I remember at least one other being the same as I asked and got the usual "they're all like that" answer. None of the others stick out in my mind so thought I'd ask here.
 
I have never checked, but this has been asked before, think alot are black.

I will try and check at lunchtime :D

I watched the megafactories BMW making of the Z4 last night and I'm fairly sure I saw the robots painting the underside of the bonnet.

Mines Maldives blue , however under the bonnet and boot , the colour is a matt black. I havnt had the door cards of , so I cant comment in that respect. Looks like a cost saving excersice by BMW or it may be a wieght saving excercise :roll:

That's good to hear. Ours is Maldives Blue also and is matt black under both bonnet and boot.

Obviously the original owner didn't tick the "colour coded innards" option box :wink:

I did look under the boot this morning to check and found it matched.

Left me thinking either it was how it left the factory or somebody has done an exceptional job of straightening a concertina'd car.
 
Is everyone else's not covered in leather like mine - or was that only if you specific extended leather :P
 
satisfying my own curiousity - bonnet is matt black underneath...

now damnit do I have to go check the boot as well :roll:
 
I believe it's correct that all repalcement bonnets are supplied prepped in black undercoat, originals are body colour but not lacquered.
