I need to replace the whole structure for my under engine cover;

- The cover
- The clips
- The screws
- The main struts on both insides of the front bumper

As a newbie on the forum it would be great to get some advice on the best places to get decent OE parts at a decent price.

Thanks lads!

Ok, go to realoem.com to get the parts numbers from the exploded diagrams you will find for your car ; call Jamie in parts at Sopers Lincoln to get a forum discount.

Oh, and an intro and pics in the newbies section is traditional when you get a moment

Get part numbers from realoem.com. Then get a quote (with discount) from Sopers, Lincoln.
Otherwise, local breakers and/or ebay?

For struts, you may want to consider non-oem if you're looking at upgrading them - am sure someone will come along with a recommendation shortly (although seaching on strut will show a number of thread, like this one

Much more comprehensive than my advice Mark

I didn't know you could get aftermarket struts. Hmmmm....

Try the Alutec ones, Bing. Get good feedback, but difficult to find - cj10jeeper's shows them (apologies for lifting the image).

I love that brace Mark, seen it before

I don't think they make it anymore though, hence the rarity :(

I'm not sure, but the OP may be talking about the two braces in front of the radiator ?

ah, the radiator bracing - sorry, was distracted by struts..... love a nice set of struts, me. Still trying to track down a nice set of black anodised (as I'm not into shiny bling, I leave that to the magpie, sorry, wife).

interesting that the front cover is 2 tone black and silver with a blue and black bmw badge. Mine is just plain black, with no coloured badge.

That's great news, thanks a lot to everyone! Mark, that's great help about realoem.com, good to hear we have discount opportunities too!

For now, I had better get onto my newbie introductions and pics of my stead!

Speak soon,

Gus

aquazi, mine is all black with no actual badge, just the impression in the plastic. I have seen quite a few people have put the BMW bag pudge there themselves, and I guess cj has also sprayed his to match the brace ? Looks good, IMO.
