My broadside exposed &took a salvo this afternoon folks . it didn't get to falling out ,sulking or folded arms but mrs w certainly made her case out :cry:
" i think we should sell the Z , sell my golf & pool the money into buying a decent family car " AKA 4X4 which i tried once & hated the whole driving experience !
Now she does have a fair point on a more suitable touring vehicle i just don't want to sell the Z .
We are off to normandy with daughter & dog for 10 days at easter , then mrs w , myself & terrier having 2 weeks in the south of france in june , followed by 2 weeks for xmas & new year in normandy with family & friends at various times . So is a 56 Golf tdi adequate or do we need a £15k SUV as she thinks ?

Anyone else have close ones who don't share the Z love ?
 
Mrs Ewazix wrapped up my previous pride-and-joy which was sort of replaced by the Zed, she drove it once and it frightened her so won't drive it again - sweet 8)
 
my misses wasnt feeling the love for it, then i let her drive it, and she has been fine with it ever since...... :driving: she's used to me having different cars though, i've probably had 10 or 12 different cars in the 7 years we've been together
 
If you can go sans terrier, two weeks in France in the Zed with Mrs Wilks would change her mind...
My girlfriend thinks I'm ridiculous because I want to blow 10k or more supercharging my ///M. I've not been "invited" to sell it (yet) because we've always got the 320d for when she's tired of noise and fear :D She's never ever been in my Westfield as she thinks it's too dangerous to be driven under any circumstances :roll:
Don't give in...everyone needs something in their life that clears out the cobwebs and increases the heart rate a little :thumbsup:

Missus jimbo1958 wouldn't give a sh*t if I sold the Zed tomorrow. As a non driver she has absolutely no interest in cars at all. :(
 
Well imho if you choose wife, child, dog and family holidays involving a car, then you need something decent to get around in and she's right.

Swapped into an X5 for a decade of that stuff (family holidays around Europe, shipping to university, etc. etc. and supplemented it with hatchback for running around. eeps became my toys and the X5 could haul them around, so it worked well.

If the Zed can't be a weekend toy then you' have an uphill battle to contend with and in time lose.
 
I have an old vito van with four seats in it. Perfectly fit for your family holidays.
Drop your coupe off and take the van away, anytime is fine.

Certainly agree with that last sentence. I know you have to be practical sometimes, but I would just die of boredom if I had to drive something humdrum every day. Even the missus, practical as she is, loved her first drive of the Z4 - once she'd got over the "that bonnet is too long" fear.

I remember when I was first lusting after cars as a teenager, my father described them as "bits of metal that get you from A to B". No soul. But then I discovered that in the 50s, he was a motorcycle nut and used to thunder around the country on a Norton. So, it's in all of us... :D
 
I've told the other half that I'll always have a sports car and that she'll have to learn to live with it. You're a long time dead and if it makes you happy why give it up :)

I once made the mistake of involving herself when veiwing a possible new ride ....... the look the saleman gave me made me introduce the "no woman involved" rule when buying more cars ...... :D

and ..... when you have aquired several cars the following applies ......
mileage in each will be reduced therefore the need to purchase shiny new is drastically reduced ...... so the Zed stays, and lives alongside something sensible, but errrrrrr old and ridiculusly cheap.
I point to the 10 year old Mercedes CL500 which I had for a while, 5 grand at the till, 5 grand at the part ex ..... doesn't come cheaper than that and loads of room for dogs, kids, shopping etc

Nonsense. Mine does have an 80% final decision in the purchase of furniture and cushions though.
