unbareable noise

Does that mean I have to always drive on the motorway with my windows slightly down? Is there any fix to the problem? Thanks

Yep, that's the fix. Just leave a crack in those windows. No, just trying to diagnose the issue. It's mostly likely a side window that needs adjusting. You can sometimes cure the whistling issue by rejuvenating the rubber seals around the window. There are several products that will do that. The old standard was BMW's Gummi Phlege (so not sure of spelling).

Good luck sorting it out.

OP, If you are capable of working on your car, you'll likely need to check the window alignment as has already been outlined and also look at the latches on the hood that lock down onto the windscreen to ensure they are clamping down fully.

If you're not happy to DIY then you will need to take it to a garage.

As there are very few manual roof cars in the UK, certainly less on this forum, help here will be minimal unless someone somewhere has a link to realOEM to perhaps show some of the latches or linkage.

There is at least one other thread/topic on this forum on the same subject which also devolved into an argument about manual roofs and markets rather than resolving the OPs enquiry/issue.

Andys89 - ignore the banter on here. Suffice to say that I don't think any of us have ever heard of a manual soft top on a UK car, so it's very unusual to have one. As posted they were only ever factory fitted to hotter climate countries, so most of the US for instance got those.

In terms of the noise you don't have to live with it, just do some adjustment of the windows. You can test by sliding thin card around windows to see if and where gaps are.

It's deffinatly not an import got a full hpi on it. Just doesn't have a motor or even the electric buttons next to the ashtray. it's just got a handle in the middle on the roof that you turn then manually fold.

Are you changing gear with your right hand ? :?

he might be left handed

Check the door alignment as well. The rear edge of the door should be absolutely flush with the corresponding edge of the rear quarter panel. If it is standing proud, then the door latch hoop have become misaligned and it's a 2 minute job with an allen key to fix.

Don't do the window alignment without checking this first because you may end up aligning the window to compensate for a misaligned door. Also check that all the rubber seals are firmly in place and not dried out.
