Unable to open boot

Hi, I've been fixing a couple of issues with my Z4 (2004). I went for a drive today and when I returned, I tried to open the boot with the button on the lower drivers dash. I hear the motor but the boot doesn't open. I've also tied the key, the same.
I've also tried opening the boot with INPA, motor works but the boot will not open.
Does anyone know how to open the boot, is there an emergency pull cord or similar?

Thanks

Thanks, tried pushing down hard and tried pulling, nothing. Motor works. Tried the roof operation which works fine so it's not interfering.

I still can't open the boot. I have tried pushing down, wiggling the boot from side to side and using a rubber mallet to tap the area behind the badge, all while pressing the boot unlock, also tried with the key, it won't budge!
Does anyone have any other ideas how I might be able to open the boot?
Thanks

I’m struggling to know what else to suggest apart from a well protected tyre lever or pry bar

At a push you could try to get the parcel shelf moved but even if you do you won’t be able to remove it or get into the boot in a meaningful way

I've tried opening the boot with pump wedges. I saw somewhere on another post, someone suggested drilling a hole on the middle behind the badge, then using a scewdriver to unlock the mechanism.
Could this work?

There is a pretty big circle behind the badge deffo

I’m just trying to recall what actually sits there and what benefit you will get from drilling

If it’s a case of getting a hole big enough to get a bar in to smack the crap out of the mech I’d say it’s worth a try

Is there something in the boot that’s stuck in the lock mech?

I’m just looking at the breaker I have here. It’s a double skin behind the boot badge so thats not easy, and even if you get through I doubt it'll give you access to anything worthwhile.

If you can get the parcel shelf out and reach over far enough you can then unscrew and remove the rear panel that the warning triangle sits in. That should give you access to the two torx screws that hold the boot latch anchor in place.
I think if you unscrew those then the boot should lift up with the anchor piece going with it.

It’s a hell of a stretch!!

What colour car is it?
Boot lids don't seem to sell very easily, so worst comes to worst and you have to go nuclear, you can maybe find a replacement one.
I have a good Sterling Grey one here you could have if yours is that colour.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Mine is Grey, managed to get the boot open last night after a few hours of sweating. A combination of wriggling side to side, pushing/pulling and levering with plastic bike levers. Took the lock apart, a small plastic bit fell out which looks like the back end of the BMW badge, must have snapped at some point in the past, probably jamming the lock!
Greased as riveted the lock, now working perfectly. I can now unhook the battery and replace the airbag pillar module. Progress!

Good news.
I found a youtube video of the same thing funnily enough.
