Ultimate Z4 Mod completed with how to...extra 2mpg bonus!

Well I had a great night last night and when returning to my car found my wing mirror snapped off. It was just dangling by the wiring looking very sorry for itself!

As I am sure many are aware it is a legal requirement to have a drivers wing mirror and as the Z is my everyday car something had to be done! Thankfully the law does not cover what type of wing mirror!

Follow my rubbish guide to fitting the new hyper-aerodynamic super leggera wing mirror, and you can be as cool as me!

P.S if I didn't laugh I would cry!

Step 1- remove door card as found in How To section.
Step 2- remove wing mirror complete with wiring.
It should look like this.......





Step 3- take your snapped mirror and drown in Rapid Steel....allow to dry over night.





Step 4- gather tools, decent water proof tape, insulation tape (black), new hyper aerodynamic super leggera wing mirror and a selection of washers!





Step 5- In 2 stages cover the holes with the tape. I used the waterproof tape first followed by the colour coded insulation tape

Looks great!



Step 6- Precisely cut a slit in the tape for your new hyper aerodynamic super leggera wing mirror



Step 7- time to ft your new hyper aerodynamic super leggera wing mirror

Doesn't it look great!



From the inside



Step 8- put the door card back on
Step 9- stand back and admire your genius handy work!

as the oginal casing looks in fair nick from the pics. you could get an eBay jobby in any colour (i'm sure a saw a silver one on there recently).. and swap out the external casing.

Great mod and a great mod, you may find that great aero efficiency on the side means you need to adjust your steering slightly to compensate :!:

If I had known this when I once had my wing mirror ripped off by some little chav, I would have done the same. Instead I drove around with mine hanging off for 3 days until the new one came.

Finally!

Somebody has eventually gotten around to doing a stubby wingmirror. There's no other protruding bits left to shorten so I think this one's a winner!

I am glad to get some laughs out of this. I actually chuckle a little when I look at the car

After extensive testing I was actually impressed! Even at 70mph it didn't move a single bit. The strangest thing is it has a small dent in it from a stone chip! It's such a small mirror I can't believe my luck.... :headbang: much cheaper to replace though
