UKIP. Would You?

In general I am in favour of being a member of the EU but I would like the UK as a whole to be allowed to have an adult debate about the pros and cons to decide what our membership should entail.

The only mandate the politicians have is from my 84 year old father's time when the electorate decided to join a Common Market primarily for trade.

A pretty disgusting record for a country that preaches democracy to other countries.

The other 'elephant in the room' is that for every 'foreigner' sponging off the government, there are 1,000 British people that do exactly the same, if not worse. I have no time for anybody that is lazy personally, regardless of where they were born. I would gladly trade lazy British people for hard working foreign people.

+1

Lots of interesting points. For what it's worth I think:

1.We joined a Common Market which has evolved into a completely different beast. A referendum is way overdue considering the changes since then.

2. Economically we benefit hugely from trade agreements with EU countries.

3. I really believe that the UK benefits from immigration, despite the lack of control. We need workers and the majority of immigrants come here to work.

3. The benefits system needs a radical shake up. We can't afford it and it's generated a benefits dependent underclass who are essentially unemployable.

4. I love my car

Do we need to leave the EU NO
Do we need to stop immigration NO
Do we need a Government that can Govern YES
Trouble is we have not had one for Decades and that is why this county is in the s--t

You think the amount of immigrants entering this country is acceptable?
From January our doors will be opened further to more immigrants, Romanian & Bulgarian. :headbang:

Don't the French have a more laid back attitude to obeying EU laws, ignoring the ones they don't like and embracing the ones they do , I know it's supposed to be EU law that these economic migrants get our state money support , but at a stroke if any government in power here just said NO to handing out benefits to the economic migrants surely they then would not come :headbang: I too saw that article in the Daily Mail Carol M and it filled me with dread :(

We have to ask ourselves why are these immigrants safely in France but want to come to the UK? The answer is simple the French don't give them any benefits. So if they ignore the EU rules why don't we ? Answer is a weak government too frightened of left wing activists many of whom don't pay into the system.

As for the UKIP vote I would love to but the only chance we have is vote Conservative, get the referendum and stick it to the politiciansand vote to leave the EU. It will be too late to stop the scroungers from Romania but at least it will then be our decision to send them back

If you want to see real criminals, that is exactly what you will get come January. In NL, they come and drive over, commit the most violent crimes where they just beat the people to death in their house to burgle it, don't care about being seen as they just drive back the same day.

Few weeks back they arrested 600 of them in one festival as they use a "push" tactic as well, mix with the crowd, start pushing and then rob everyone when the crushing starts. A whole new level of crime waiting on our door steps.

There is nothing wrong with immigration the trouble is what the Government is willing to give them and what little they do to make it not as feasable for them to want to come over here. A lot of British have migrated all over the world but we know we can not do it for free. I thought the Government was taking the right route when they announced the 3k levy for certain countries (i did think it should of been worldwide) but at least it was a start, only for them to rebuke it. Like i said dont blame folk for coming over here for a free ride blame the Government for allowing it to happen. Lets face it if we could go to a country of our choice be given aid and anything else to help us move and get by, would we go.

UKIP would not have a problem running the country;it doesn't matter who we elect, the civil service make sure that whatever policies are implemented get adhered to.Sadly for the last 40+ years the policies have been wrong.

So who did you vote for? and did they manage your expectations properly?

When you have a Labour Party, ahead in the polls, despite consistently fucking the country up at every opportunity they get, then you get weak government. How many Labour voters are benefit recipients? A large proportion. Turkeys don't vote for an early Christmas.

Any fool knows the welfare state (and government/public sector for that matter) should be as small as humanely possible. But whilst Britain keeps electing Milliband and his cronies, so they can hand yet more of your money to people who don't deserve it, then nothing will change.

Wonder why your energy bills have just gone up 10%? Blame Milliband's price freeze policy, there'll be another 10% rise next year as well as the energy companies hedge their bets on Labour winning the election, so get used to it. Oh and let's just bully all employers into paying a "living wage" because some pressure group has dreamt it up. It sounds good, we've no idea how employers will be able to afford it but hey, they're employers so they must be loaded right?

In answer to the original question though, no to UKIP, they are frankly a bit scary.

Let's be honest OG, they're all a bunch of w4nkers. The benefits system isn't the only thing needing overhauling, the political system does too. We've voted ourselves a party system we can't easily get rid of and which is so out of date in this day and age of connectivity and informed people that it's ridiculous.

Yes that's probably fair Stu. But we are welfare system addicts in the UK. It's a drug we need to be weaned off but nobody is prepared to make people go cold turkey because it's electoral suicide to do it.
