UK vaccination

Now that the UK has started rolling out the COVID-19 vacation program it got me thinking when I might get mine.
They have currently vaccinated 500,000 people in approximately 2 weeks, the UK population is about 67 million, so by my calculations thats 5 years to vaccinate everyone, which needing 2 injections each doubles it to 10 years!
I know once things get rolling it will get quicker but even so by the time they get half way through will those already vaccinated need another dose?

Yup, they need to move up several gears..which hopefully they will, but certainly those at lower risk will be well into the second half of the year before they get 'processed'.. a friend of mine in London has an app which tells her (then aged 60) that she will have her first shot early April so it will be early May before she can wander hopefully relatively immune..although as yet we don't know whether they can still spread, especially this new latest mutated version..

Therefore the light is at the end of the tunnel, that's not to say its a bloody long tunnel and we are walking slowly..

Could someone be so kind as to change the thread title from 'vacation' to 'vaccination' lol. If id have known this was another vaccination thread i wouldnt have bothered clicking it.

If we are talking about uk vacations, then hopefully sometime in spring we'll be back on for private holiday cottage rentals, maybe a uk roadtrip might be on the cards. Hoping to meet some friends we havent seen since february at the beach too, which would be good even if it is freezing.

There's an app for that :D

Only 23,000,000 people in front of me

The slow start may also be due to the number of vaccinations available as well as staff to get it moving, the biggest issue currently is storage and transport.

When Seth Oxford vaccine comes on line without the transport / storage issues then it may speed up quite a bit.

Don’t worry - there’s a good percentage who don’t want the vaccine- bumps those of us who do up the list!
On a post on this forum only 70% indicated that they will definitely take the jab.

Looks like 3rd Feb for me!!!

Looks like the same date for me too

Funny thing is, after saying yes to the shielding question it then didn’t matter whether I said yes or no to having something listed. Tried both yes and no and it made no difference.

Locally, we’ve had a problem with the storage so all proposed ones for last week were cancelled and they’re being reinstated tomorrow so I’m presuming these type of things may have a knock on effect ours

Agree - I’m Diabetic but my age seemed to be the controlling factor.
I’m not wishing my life away but roll on February!

I aint worried, like to see the guinea pigs try it first :poke:

The app I posted considers a 70.6% uptake.

My results:

Based on your profile, there are between 23,842,145 and 27,132,105 people in front of you in the queue for a COVID vaccine across the UK.
📅 Given a vaccination rate of 1,000,000 a week and an uptake of 70.6%, you should expect to receive your vaccine between 08/06/2021 and 01/07/2021.

[ref]Bing[/ref], look on the bright side, you’re obviously in much better nick than me and will be able to get holiday insurance with no reciprocal agreement in place when you can go on holiday

Silver linings and all that

Unfortunately Ron it would be absolutely remiss for me to go without it. When I’m well I’m well, when I’m not it normally involves a hospital stay. The gamble isn’t worth it. I can’t get the normal Bank Acc one as they exclude any pre existing conditions without screening. Do the screening and it’s a big no.

Had planned to do a European road trip next year but haven’t looked at insurance yet as it won’t reflect accurately just now. Just hoping 6/8 countries in one go won’t mean mean huge premiums
