UK traffic map glitch

Dear members
I am new to this forum having picked up my Z4 in December. Very happy with it so far.
Having paid the extortionate extra for the navigation system I have noticed that the traffic maps show the traffic jams on the opposite side of the road to where they should be. Sounds ridiculous but it is wrong every time. Is this because they drive on the other side of the road in Germany?!
Anyone else had this problem?

It shouldn't have anything to do with the origin of the vehicle. The Traffic data in your Nav unit comes from a TMC feed generated out of the UK.
There is obviously some bug in there, but your dealer should be ble to fix.

Do you mean the grey traffic situation map or normal map with black arrows that show slow traffic?

It is the traffic grey map. Sounds crazy but it is the exact opposite to what it should be. I have even compared to google maps traffic etc. I guess it still works you just have to pretend you are driving on the right!

I never use the grey map but ill try it when out next.. I tend to use the normal map and look out for the arrows.

mine does the same, never really thought bout this, but it gives the avoidance guidance correctly based on a build up on your side of the road.

dario - agree the avoidance guidance is correct. and actually if you zoom in as far as possible on the grey map, the colours then switch to the correct road side, but only on max zoom. Makes for a confusing overall picture.

Update on this. Took my car in today (15/2/13) and the service centre have informed me that it is a known fault within BMW affecting lots of the models not just the Z4. They are apparently working on a software update which will not be available until May or June this year. I guess for that read "a very long time". Until then if you use the grey maps you have to remember that the traffic flow is on the wrong side of the road. I think it is newer cars this applies to (I got mine in Dec 12).

When I get time I will be writing to BMW about compensation for their £2K system which has the traffic back to front and doesn't tell me where the cameras are. Tempted to plug in my old Tom Tom.

Sorry all the previous post was way too negative for a Friday! On a happier note they have washed and valeted the car, the sun is out so can't wait to finish work and pick it up!

Got call from dealer they now have a software fix for this problem.

Hope it works.

Did you ask for compensation....my initial comment to that would be "good luck with that!"
