UK Road Trip - Where to go?

I'll be going from Swindon, and currently have something planned going South West along the northern Devon and Cornwall coast, and coming back along the south coast, taking in a few places. Only around 600 miles!

Anyone got any other good suggestions for where I could go on a road trip? Most of what's in the East doesn't really seem to appeal - Are there hidden gems I'm missing there, or perhaps I'd be better looking at Wales? A bit further, but I'd love to go back to the Lake District. We spent a couple of days there in my VXR before, and we drove some amazing roads.

Devils staircase, the Evo Triangle, Elan Valley

Did a great Peak District Run with PH, forget the road but could find out. All recently tarmaced over the moor. Superb road.
 
Recently tarmaced... Now I like that idea! The Z4 loves smooth roads! If you can pull out that road for me, that'd be great!
 
Think it's called the Black Mountain Pass

A4069 which leaves th A40 at Llandovery.

Also A4059 meant to be good.
 
Yes, definitely Wales. Brunstrom has gone so the war on cars is not so bad anymore.
