UK Road Tax

don't think there are any changes this time (yet).
New tax on new cars however...

It was proposed that band G would go up to £400 and tax on a new band G vehicle would be £1000 for the first year!! :o

Glad I didn't buy an M! :?

From BBC website:
Plans to increase first-year road tax by £950 for the most polluting vehicles - and a general reform of Vehicle Excise Duty aimed at encouraging the production of greener cars - are also expected to bring in an extra £730m annually by 2010.
F***k all to do with the environment and road care then!! :x

Mr Darling said he was setting aside new funding to develop road-pricing schemes.
:tumbleweed:

Oh joy!! Anyone fancy sponsoring me to live in the USA? :)

Well if I've read it correctly, my tax has gone up to £440 a year next year and £455 year after

That road looks awesome!! Do you realise how much more us UK people would spend to get to the end of that road to how much it would cost you? I bet you could go up and down that road 4 times to our 1!! :?

I'm a reasonable cook and I'm good with kids!! :D :driving:

and information from the bbc - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7291643.stm

so a z4 2.0i comes in at £170 this year and £175 next year of course if you have a 3.0i then it's another story!!!

Ah well, I don't drink or smoke so I guess the government has to get more tax off me somewhere! Imagine if you owned a Z4 and drank and smoked!! You'd effectively be financing your local council on your own!!! :o

I was quite surprised that my Z4 3.0 si was in the same road tax bracket as my John Cooper Works MINI was!! Fuel consumption was almost the same also! Good figures for a big engined car or bad figures for a small car though?

I am confused. I was sure that I paid 300 last year, and that the tax for my M was 400 this year, not 385???

Somethings wrong there I agree. What's with the March 07 date? I thought it was March 06 (my BMW M3 was a Band F at £210 a year, but those produced after March 06 became band G)

My car is October 24th 2006.
Road tax is £300 a year, I have the reminder in front of me.
I understood it went to £400 next year.

The £300 changes to £400 in March 2007, I renewed at end of Feb so I just missed the increase.

Not bothered anyway, TBH these cars are losing anything from £300 to 600 a month in depreciation anyway, so a hundred quid here or there isn't really much to worry about, not for the pleasure of driving a Z4 anyway (or an SLK!).
