UK Fuel is changing?

Went to fill up today and on the counter was a bunch of leaflets about the fuel being re labelled but not changing. Apparently now unleaded is now called E5 and Diesel is B7 to show their ethanol content.

Do I need to care about this, will it affect my posh petrol (yep tin of worms - On only fill up with Shell Super unless I cant find a Shell then its BP Super).
Does the Ethanol content really matter? Over in Stralia those aussies seem to rave about E85 fuel and super tune their cars to run like a psyco on acid. ( Been watching too much Might Car Mods)

I think it’s been E5 for a long time, but it just wasn’t clearly labelled.

The reason for the push for correct labelling is that E5 won’t harm most engines, but the forthcoming E85 may, and so it needs to be VERY clear.

Theres going to be so many people breaking their cars by the sound of it then. Hopefully E85 gets a different pump colour as well.

Fuel that contains ethanol is much more age sensitive for multiple reasons.

So for a convertible that gets sorned during the winter it might not be the best fuel.

E85 is interesting for tuners as its much more knock resistant, however you need more of the stuff, so upgrading fuelpumps and injectors is a must.
