One for the UK guys/girls. Does anyone know if you can continue your BMW warranty after the original, or in my case the 12 month approved used, one runs out? More importantly any ideas on what it costs?

Hmm, tricky one, I would renew because for me it's not worth the risk of having to shell out for something. There are also aftermarket warranties too.

Just been offered by BMW to extend the warranty by one year on me 3.0 for £427 (With BMW Emergency Service) and £340 without. I feel that this is OKish........ What do you think?
Which I think is an OK price TBH, wonder what they're charging nowadays.

I think the aftermarket one are maybe worth looking at, as long as you choose one where BMW can do the work, but I think you are looking at £800+ per year for BMW warranty.

I bought a Tesco warranty for small piece of mind. Hope I don't need it but it will cover the big stuff if it goes wrong.
Once I've had a car for a year I pretty much cover the known risks myself.

The old BMW Warranty extension was at that level (at least when it was offered to me), but I understand that under the new system you can reduce the level of cover and accordingly the cost.

But if you think BMW is steep, you should try Porsche. From what I hear the new warranty is c.£1400 p.a.! Gives me serious second thoughts about buying a Boxster.

My BMW warranty is lapsing soon and I checked cost online for the renew - tailored quote says it's only going to be £400 or so for the full monty with no excess. A damn bargain methinks

just renewed mine for 427- full cover so peace of mind is well worth it! Make sure you renew before old one lapses as there can be no gap!

where was that about?

i looked at tesco options, the people on the boxster forums seem to rate them, and that came out at ~400 so if the BMW one is the same it seems like a good deal to me.

I'm havng a new screen fitted tomorrow, apparently costing around £2k (according to them) - so warranty might be worth it!

It was the genuine BMW warranty direct from the BMW website

I paid £400 for BMW one year extended warrenty, in July (The first one). I've had the Sat Nav swapped out, and having the bonnet release cable replaced next week. Warrenty cover is insurance hopefully not needed, but for me this year it has paid for itself. just had my third set of 108's fitted, under the origional car warrenty. I was offered any other wheel of my choise, but stuck to the 108s. BMW are OK on warrenty claims. I have had no problems making my claims.

You have had 3 sets of 108's in less than 3 years? Mine are just showing signs of corrosion (only visible if you take the wheels off) and technically the car is 2 years old.

This may make me consider 1 years warranty if they would swap them out in the extended period, and at £400 would break even plus extra piece of mind.

I had the BMW approved used warranty when I bought the car ... and extended it this year for just under £400. I wasn't sure because the car is low mileage and in excellent condition ... but they told me that if you miss a year you can't take out the warranty later. It also includes full European breakdown cover which mitigates the cost a bit.

got a quote today, £349 full cover excluding the breakdown/European cover which i don’t need, if you call in a recovery crew will still take your car to the nearest main dealer regardless so money saved there i think.

£349 seems like a good deal to me so probably going to take it...... either that or a set of new shoes (non run flats), hmmmmm decisions decisions :)
