UK - An attempt to arrange NC500 trip (around 6 folk)

Hey all fellow Scots,

EDIT (31/03/2016) : Due to lack of any major interest from those in Scotland, I am now opening this potential trip up to all in UK, BUT where we still need to keep number down to a manageable number (of 6 or 7 max).

EDIT 2 (11/04/2016) : Due to lack of interest, I've decided to give up with this attempt to arrange this. Sorry to anyone that was interested. :?

I may live to regret this, but following on from this recent "Scottish hoons" thread http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=84719 i'm going to attempt here to try arrange around 5, 6, or maybe 7 folk at a push for getting together to do the North Coast 500 route (Scotland Tourist Board's answer to Route 66 :wink: ) this summer - maybes in May, but at this time no actual dates proposed.

Having just joined forum in recent months, and having never attempted to arrange anything like this before, I'm just going to try to get the ball rolling here, and see what happens..

The clear difficulty for me here is attempting to keep numbers down to a manageable number, without offending others who may be up for it, but where if I attempted to arrange with many more than 6 cars, the whole thing would likely be a nightmare to arrange, considering hotel bookings, and as mentioned by Mr Wilks in other thread, getting out of junctions & continually looking to make sure no one has dropped off the back...

So, at risk of offending those South of the border, just for now I'm going to suggest this be a local Scottish-only trip, in case around 6 Scots may be up for it. For now then, I'm just looking to identify those who would be interested, and once I've maybe got 7 or couple more names, i'll try suggest a possible weekend to run up the flag-pole, and see who salutes from those who noted interest.

If you're seriously interested, then add your details like listed below, and we'll see how this list looks over next couple weeks, before we try agree dates, route & hotel-stops etc..

More than likely wont be able to make it then due to her indoors work commitments :roll:
 
Would have come along but I'm going with the wife in August over 5 days.

I would love the insight from you guys though :)
 
Hi Billy,

I would love to do a trip but all is dependant on when this is. In May I am struggling but later in the year may be easier after family Summer hols etc. Put me down for standby when a date has been fixed but I think opening this up a little to get your numbers may be the way to go.

Just had a look at the map for the charity bear run and there aren't that many of us in Scotland seemingly!
 
Depending on Scottish members and the date in May I could be up for this. New car arrives sometime in May so it could be a great shakedown so will keep an eye on the thread :thumbsup:

I am in Newcastle by the way so nearly qualify as a Scotsman lol

If you don't get enough Scots taking the bait, I'd be up for that with the missus as long as it was later on in May. I'm in Turkey till the 14 th.

Sorry for not updating this thread for last 4 weeks - I know, not a great indication of my "organisational skills" so far :?

After 4 weeks then, it is clear that I massively over-estimated the possible interest with my local Scottish Z4 owners :oops: , so now happy to add anyone seriously interested to my list of 6 or 7 members....

Obviously, the next major headache is going to be which dates/weekend to do, plus I don't even really have any route/plan considered yet, even in terms of how many Hotel-overnights to do the NC500 over.

I will now message another Forum member I know who has done NC500 to ask for advice on this, but assuming we arrange for 3 days (2 nights?) from a Friday to a Sunday, let me suggest the following 4 totally random options I've just chosen, and anyone interested just post what letters A/B/C/D you could do & I will then later add names to each of the lists in this post here:

A) May : Friday 6th May till Sunday 8th May

1) "_Billy_" (Billy) - Z4MC (Glasgow)

B) May : Friday 27th May till Sunday 29th May

1) "_Billy_" (Billy) - Z4MC (Glasgow)

C) June : Friday 10th June till Sunday 12th June

1) "_Billy_" (Billy) - Z4MC (Glasgow)

D) July : Friday 8th July till Sunday 10th July

1) "_Billy_" (Billy) - Z4MC (Glasgow)

I guess you are thinking of setting off from Glasgow area and going clockwise? Last year I did some of this route but anti clockwise - some fab roads around Arrochar and down to Lockgilphead and up to Oban :driving:

Would you be starting off in the morning on the Friday as it would not be a problem but might mean a night stay locally for me on the Thursday night?

I'll maybe try do the NC500 some other time, and being the Z4 forum newbie that I am, will just join this other Road Trip now being arranged http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=86231, without the stress of arranging myself :)

If anyone feels like trying to arrange NC500 in the future, feel free. :thumbsup:

Assuming this other 'Braemar run' happens next month, and I make it to that, we can maybe see who may be up for a bigger NC500 trip again sometime in the future. :)
 
I am up for a bigger trip but without dates to work from I don't know if it is possible for me to get away with work, hols etc.

Also have the ted charity run at some point in the next few months so as I think we have all signed up we may be able to work something in with this. :D

As flying fifer says though thanks for trying to get something arranged. :thumbsup:
