Ugly wheel hubs

Hey,

I am looking to buy a Z4 coupe and have seen one.
I had a look round and looks ok.
All in order with 33k on the clock.
However, like so many cars, the wheel centres and the brake housing looks really crudy. The rust has eaten through and the brakes look rusty and naff.

Anyone else been able to sort that out or is it something you have to put up with ?

Cheers

i sprayed mine last weekend, give them a good keying with a wire brush & sprayed satin black, looks a lot more presentable now.

I've painted several BMW hubs/brakes with smooth hammerite in sliver. Returns them to factory look and hides the rust. Will do the wifey's 3 series when the weather picks up. Amazed BMW sell cars with rusty hubs but it only seems to be the 'M's that don't need a coat of paint.

As above a quick rub down with some wire wool and spray the hubs and i hand painted my calipers but you could remove them and spray.

What do you think of painting them with red caliper paint.......tacky??

Silver is my colour choice other colour i would choose is black red calipers are not to my taste but look OK would not paint the hubs red look to OTT flat gold looks good for calipers on a black car all depends on the colour of the car you could colour code the calipers to match the car again depending on body colour.

Have thought about cleaning mine with a dremmel then spraying with clearcoat for a bare metal look

Lots of threads on choice of paint colour. Red is actually very popular and in the opinion of many looks realy good. Silver or black are good to just tidy them up.

Notice it on other cars loads now after sorting mine when I replaced worn OEM with black EBC Ultimax.

This is one way to solve when new discs are due or a quick lick of paint as others have said.

Black hubs and calipers as an alternative to CJ's red:

BMW painted my hubs before I picked the car up. I have since painted my calipers red, the same as CJ's above (also Sterling Grey) Makes a world of difference IMO. It's also so easy to do.
