so back to sourcing Michelin Pilot Super Sports and give them a try . . .

MPSS are being superseded by the MPS4S. There are some reviews on the internet but annoyingly for 224 wheel owners only in 19". The MPS4 non S are availablein 18" but these don't get anywhere near as good a write up.

From other threads MPSS getting scarcer especially for the fronts. I think by next year when I have to replace I may have my reason to get 19"

Roger that :( - Best I've been able to find is 225/45/ZR18 95Y XL for fronts - will have to check if the XLs are suitable fitment. :?

XL are fine, and was all that was originally available in M sizes.

Only difference is a harder sidewall.

Thanks Tony that's useful and good to know - I'll get them ordered up and fitted together with the 255 /40/ZR18 95Y (non XL) rears  Thanks again!

I also had OEM new condition Bridgestone Potenza RunFlats on my 2007 3.0 with only 16000 total summer miles, and decided that ten years was past the "best-before" date. I purchased Michelin 225/45R17 94 V Pilot Sport A/S3+ this week, but have not yet had an opportunity to really check out performance. (I got stuck behind a school bus on the way home from the tyre shop) But something that was rattling on the way to the shop was quiet on the return trip, so it is definitely a smoother ride.
