After much searching for a good condition set of 2nd hand 108's, I have decided to just get mine refurbed.

When I do so I will need to change the rear tyres.

Does anyone have any thoughts / experience of fitting non-runflats on the back whilst I still have runflats on the front?

I thought about doing that, but from what I can gather, it's not a good idea to. So i'm planning on changing to 4 Falken FK452's.

What do you mean you havent found a set of good condition 108's ?...i have some in the 'Buy & Sell' section ! :poke:

I know, I have looked at them and I am in East Yorks, but I have found a guy who can refurb mine for £280 and he comes very well recommended.

about the tires, anyone have any feedback on the new Yokohama Parada??? They look da street :P

I had this on a MINI for about a week while I waited for a pair of non-runflats. Rear runflats and proper fronts. It was interesting to say the least. You'll experience an enormous difference in grip levels, especially in the wet. Not recommended for any length of time.

No, the people on the Honda forums swear by them, I had some on some track wheels but never got chance to use them.

So my options are; Pay £450 for two new rear runflats or change all four to non-runflats?

If I was going down the non-runflat route, what should I buy?

I have had two runflats on the front and two non-runflats on the back for 18 months now with no problems. I've just replaced my rears again for FK452's with the same BMW OEM Bridgestone's on the front from since I bought the car!
 
What about the run flat sensors? Do they get confused when you put non-runflats on? Do they need to be turned off?

Run flat sensors on our cars (UK) are based on wheel rotation (using ABS sensors) and not in tyre etc so it doesnt matter whether you have runflats or non-runflats on the car :thumbsup:

A full set of Falkens would set you back less than 400 quid, thats what I would do...........that's what i am doing infact!
 
Those Parada-Spec 2's aren't that new, I had a full set for 10k miles or so on my last car and they were OK but nothing special. Good grip in the grip and quite progressive but not a massively high level of grip, never really push a car hard in the wet but they seemed OK.

Not sure on price of them for a set for the Z4, but the Falkens that everyone mentions are a perfectly good tyre - I've had a set on since January and can't fault them. Appear to be grippy and good in the wet too.
 
I'm just coming to the end of my 3rd set of FK452 rears, this set appear to have burnt through rather quickly :o , about 10,000. Otherwise I think an excellent tyre, however near the end of their life they appear to go 'off' very quickly.

My only decision now is whether to go back to RFT's as the lease will run out on my car with the next set on, does anyone know if they will insist on OEM tyres on return ???, I don't really want to shell out the extra £300 to please them! :headbang:

dunno but if you do go back to run flats choose a different brand :D

Michelin PS2 ZPs are great :D
 
also - the Michelin's would be considered OEM as they use them also depending on which factory the cars come from (all Z4's were bridge stones because they were only made in one factory - 3 series come with either bridgestones or michelins depending on where they're built).
