Tyres

Hi Guys

Some time this year I’ll need to replace the tyres.

I have a 35i on 19” OEM Image Attached but in gloss black.

Currently with Run Flats on all round.

I want to come off them but don’t want to pay for Michelin PS4’s Etc

Can you recommend any alternatives that are cheaper.

I have seen Falken Azenis FK510’s on Black circles

I haven’t looked at my tyres to see Widths profile speed ratings etc

Any help welcomed

I have Falken Azenis FK510’s on my car. I’ve done about 4,000 miles on them and have found them very good under a variety of conditions. My wheels are 19inch and I use 255 30 R19 on the rear and 225 35 R19 on the front.

My 35i is on Bridgestone Potenza, they are bloody awful.
You cannot/should not cut corners on tyres (excuse the pun) on powerful cars, you may not want to shell on on PS4S but you will be a lot safer if you do, PS4S are also very hardwearing and you may find that so far as miles per £ goes they are pretty good value. I think its fair to say that anyone who has owned a car with PS4S would stick with them in future, I certainly will.
I have used asda tyres before, great prices. They deliver to a local affiliated fitter, you pop round, they fit them and you pay at point of fitting.
Its always worth shopping around all the dealers people recommend, especailly right now...

The best tyres in my opinion are Pzeros .been put these on my car for 10 years or more .PorscheBoxster S and other fast car .it just stays on the black stuff 😊

Find a friend with a Costco membership and buy a set of Michelins PS when they have a deal on , £75/100 off for a set of 4.
Their prices are pretty difficult to beat.
They cant jack up a Z4 though as its too low - so the wheels have to come off in the carpark DIY
( I dont work for Costco)

Thank You I did see a recommendation on you tube for these for price point compared to Michelin.
It’ll be either these or swallow the pill of Michelin’s.

I ftted Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres to my Z4.. I'm pleased with them as the ride is good and grip is more than enough for me... They may not be the cheapest but are not the most expensive.. Always worth looking for deals as that might sway your choice... I've never tried the cheaper makes but all tyres sold in Europe have to make a certain standard so they will not be sub standard maybe just not the ultimate.. If you don't drive on the edge and at UK speed limits then most tyres will be fine...
Avoid part worn or 2nd hand tyres...

Never fully understood this notion , surely once a few thousand miles are on any tyres they are "part worn " & no longer new :?
Ive used countless part worn tyres & never had a single problem , providing they are in date & in good order where is the issue ?

The Vredstein ultrac vorti is great value for money.

I’ll second these as had them on my 35i and found them very good in all weathers even at silly speeds on a trip to France.

You dont know the tyres history, no one does apart from the driver of the last vehicle it was on. They could have been badly kerbed or involved in an accident that can damage the structure without any visible evidence.
I have a guy close to me, he tels everyone he knows they are safe, he cannot know that, I still use him for tyres on my focus though, it never goes over 35 mph....

But what happens then when you buy a car second hand? technically the same thing? especially if you buy from a dealer who has bought the car from auction hence no contact with the previous owner to know the history? If they are badly kerbed I would think the damage would be visible. If part worns were really that unsafe they wouldn't be allowed for sale?

Precisely  you would have to fit new tyres to every used car to avoid ever having second hand & that is never gonna happen even if you were buying a £100k supercar.
Its just snobby bollox .

That is a very fair point, I guess it all comes down to risk and numbers in the end. You take a chance on the tyres your used car has on, if you change them for peruses tyres you take four more risks. Risk essentially comes down to numbers like most things. The more risk you take the more likely you are to fall foul of ‘bad luck’.
Just a personal choice in the end, I am hugely risk averse in cars, I know what happens when you’re not!
