Tyres... What to do?

It's not brilliant, and I personally don't normally. But I had potenza rft on the front with 6mm left, so did not want to bin them really. But obviously different Tyres have different levels of grip, and more noticed in the wet or of course on the limit, but both your not really going to see on the roads. Well unless you do 120 round corners in the wet of course :D

Across the axle is not such a good idea (still legal though), front back wont give you any problems and is somthing I did for 18 months
 
I've just ordered (and to be fitted) 2 x Bridgestone RF's (Front) for £335, from Kwik Fit...

Thought it was a decent price!

Nothing wrong with that, your car is a rear wheel drive, as long as you stick to the same make on the same axel you will be fine. Think of the old days people run the winter tire set on the rear and summer tire set up front.

Loads on this Forum already on mix and match. Of course you can run different tyres front and back but i.m.o. compromises handling and safety.
 
If I call the dealer to hold off on the tyres (they're at 2mm so it's not super urgent), can I still do the alignment they'd booked in? Or is that affected by what tyres are fitted - shouldn't have thought so but worth checking.

Then ask them to price up a pair of falkens, or just ring micheldever who are near to the office anyway
 
I have 16" wheels with run flat tyres that need changing.
Where can I get the tyres in Glasgow. I want adealer/fitter that knows what they are doing and can actually get the tyres off and fit non run flats. I am travelling south in March for a trip to the continent so could pick tyres from any where in Midlands area also. Would a change to 17" be benificial ?

Cheapest place for R/F i could find fitted was Kwikfit online ,under £200 fitted.I just orderd GOODYEAR f1 from mytyres £586 for 4 fitted,waiting for them to arrive.

If you have the funds, I'd pop some winter tyres on the 16s for the next couple of months and use that time to source some 18s for summer use. If you go for 17s you'll only end up wanting 18s.

If cash flow / storage of a winter set is an issue just get 18s. You can get some good deals on OEM ones, especially if you don't mind getting them refurbed - probably some in the buy and sell section. I wouldn't ask what's best as it really divides opinion. Have a look through the gallery and see what you like best... smart money is on the ellipsoids :fuelfire:

Wish I had done this on my last Z as when I traded it in the delaer gave me alot less for it as they said they would have to put run flats back on it. This time when i change tyres i will keep the original run flats to put back on come trade in time :thumbsup:
 
Did it really make a difference then?

I'm probably moving onto something a bit more economical this year, so good to know that the space in the garage isn't going to waste.

Well it gives them one more reason to give yopu less than you were hoping for, yes I think they knocked a few hundred quid off
 
I have seen some 18" wheels and tyres on ebay. They are off a Z4M. Will they fit a 2003 2.5i. I have the 16" wheels athe moment.

Just about to swap to Falken FK452's myself, all four tyres for 358.66 delivered.

Will phone some local places and see what's cheapest...
